Hey, what's wrong with Muriel, and Barbara isn't too bad. I've met plenty of good looking girls named Barbara.

But Ethel is out of the question, no doubt.

Eh...not a big fan of those names.

Quote:
But...i DO presume your refering to names of old, such as Elizabeth, Charlotte, and Amelia blah blah blah etc!!! nice names those!
Not really actually. They're a bit too 'normal' for my taste. Lovely names of course and very British, if I might say so. Not a lot of Elizabeth's or Charlotte's over here I'm sure you can imagine but I prefer more unusual, rare and more meaningful names.

We finally found a boys name we liked. It's quite special actually so I'm saying nothing until the baby is born. Then I'll reveal both names. Of course we'll pick the relevant name depending on if we have a boy or girl.

Not knowing whether we'll have a boy or girl is going to be a nice surprise for everyone, including Peter and me but for everyone else, the name will also be a surprise.

Just 6 more months to go and you'll all know!

Hey - by the way, started getting my bump now. It's noticeable and we've taken some photos. We took one on the 14th April and another one the other day, 14th May and there is a distinct bump now. But I knew that anyway because my clothes no longer fit. I've taken to keeping the top buttons open and keeping my jeans and trouser up with belts. It's quite funny actually. Just not at the stage where I need proper maternity wear yet but I am not far from it though.

Nah, what I meant was unlike most people you haven't lost your sanity when it comes to taste in names. Sorry for the mixup.

Well we had the second scan today and thankfully, everything looks fine. No problems found.

It was brilliant, we saw all four chambers of the heart beating away strong and well. We also saw the stomach and bladder and kidneys. At one point, we saw our baby open and close the left hand a couple of times. And we saw our baby's face from the front. Still looks like any other baby right now. Hard to tell if the baby looks like Peter or me but I suppose we'll find that out in a few more months time. It was very special and you couldn't get the grins off our faces all day!

Here's a pic of todays scan. Hope you can make it out.

Actually, here's another one. I didn't post it before because it doesn't show as much detail but the baby has his/her chin down in this one. You can also see the intestines on this one too and a small vague glimpse of one of the hands.

They only do 3D scans in private clinics here. You have to book and pay for them yourself. Insurance doesn't cover it and it's a bit expensive.

I will get less than half pay when I'm on maternity leave so everything will be extremely tight for the 7 months that I'm off. We're trying to save what we can now where possible so we decided not to go with the 3D scan.

Besides, a lot of the time, I think most of the babies look a bit weird. Some don't. Some look adorable but I don't want to run the risk of seeing my baby in a 3D scan and thinking the baby looks weird. It would just freak me out. The ultrasound showed us all we needed to see, even our little baby's face.

I can't imagine what it must be like to carry life inside of my guts..... *afraid* But if you want some fun names try Agenda, Clutch, Tilly or Tillia (not a good middle name if the first name is Jenna though), Bella, and Luna for a girl. Cabin, Elwood, Shanyn, Sean, Tray, or Star for a boy. Wow, I might be a hippy, but Tilly O'Toole sounds like a really good name, or at least it's fun to say.

I love the name Luna but it doesn't go well with my surname (married name). But we have our girls name already. We really need to settle on a boys name. I keep getting vibes lately of a boy but I am not the type to rely on that when it comes to babies. I have good instincts that way but I haven't always been right with others who are having kids. Suppose I'm just being cautious. Though without thinking, I keep saying 'him' and 'he'.

This is just so amazing, Kiera!!!! I'm so happy for the 3 of you!!!! (mom, dad, and baby!)

You know, I've always heard that when a woman is carrying "low", it means they will have a boy. Maybe there's some truth to this???? Don't know, but just something to think about.
