Liking that type of music is like what Jewel says in "Race Car Driver". 'You're a sensitive man of the 2000's and you really care about your wellbeing'....

I hear ya! I love Alanis, Fiona, and the others to a degree, but the music seen has almost literally gone to hell. I had to block MTV on my TV because it just plain sucks. I was talking to a group of people at a New Years Party and they told me that I was stuck in the past, listening to Alternative rock from the 90s. !!!<3Nirvana<3!!! But I also like a lot of new stuff, I'm absolutely insane about Evanescence, Godsmack, Seether, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, Flyleaf, Hinder, etc. I just think that my genre of choice is too different from what's 'popular' right now.

And about Jewel being for gays, I know a lot of gays that just straight hate Jewel's music.

My husband bought me a Jewel book on Ebay the other day....and he said that included in the seller's Ebay store that shows up as "similar items" were a bunch of lesbian themed books. I thought that was interesting, but didn't really make sense to me. What's up with that? I'm a straight married woman...

I know I really like the older stuff too. I think music has just gone to this weird extreme now. I have really just begun to get into Nirvana. For some reason I wasn't too into it back when they were popular, I guess cause I was like 11 or 12 and I honestly didnt really listen to music at all.. but I love Nirvana and old stuff from that time period like smashing pumpkins and green day and stone temple pilots, foo fighters, and all that stuff.

I don't get the whole gay thing w/ music. It's like saying hey you eat pizza so you must be italian.

It must have something to do with the whole Lilith Fair thing. Everyone thought or assumed it was a big lesbian bash, but I think mostly it was about the strength of women. Not that I ever went to it, but that's what I gathered from the info I've heard about it. It's really no different than when they have OzzFest and it's a bunch of guys moshpitting, hitting, and punching each other in the mud, usually with their shirts off. No one thinks that's a gay guy thing.

Apparently the assumption is that if you're in touch with your feelings and introspective, you must be gay. Such prejudice....people are so ignorant and sterotypical it's annoying, isn't it?

I think If you like Jewel and you a guy 9 out of 10 times your gay
The Real Gay guys.. tend to like Jewel for the way she expresses herself.
They can relate to her because of what she says in her songs.

I consider Jewel a real gay idol unlike the fake ones (Cher, Madonna , Gwen Stefani, Britney) Who are the flamboyant gay guys idol
