Ok...I know this sounds really weird, but I love snakes and spiders but am afraid of flies. I hate how in the summer when you're outdoors horseflies and deerflies buzz around your head, land in your hair, or surprise you by biting you in the back- it sends shivers up my spine. And I hate houseflies- if I see a bunch of flies in a restaurant I won't eat there because they gross me out so much.
Big cities- I'm country; I prefer rural and suburban areas to urban areas. Creepy men thay stalk you and hit on you. It's an insult to my intelligence. Social fears, like the fear of the moral decay in our country spreading to the point of our society collapsing. Fear that people will destroy the planet. "I'm worried about enclosed spaces and and pain and spiders and words with 'R' in them, and... Do you want the whole list, or just a general overview?" --Boober Fraggle |

Well, i made a major breakthrough with my St. Bernard fear, I patted my first St. Bernard a couple weeks ago...as visions of foam dripping cujo ripping off my hand ran through my head!

Im afraid that my debits and credits in my accounting dont balance.... OK, maybe not. But I can think of two things:
As someone said in one of the posts, I am afraid of what could be there in the dark. But is that because were watching so many horror flicks? What are you really afraid of, the serial killer/rapist, or a spooky spirit or ghost? Having been raised with a Japanese culture, I am sort of afraid that Ill be alone with a ghost or spirit. That comes to mind before I think about a killer or something more tangible. Is that normal? But speaking of spiders, I experienced what its like to have bad karma this weekend. We have two large spiders in our yard. They are unusually large (about the size of a nickel), and they spun webs in the rose garden. So, I did what a typical school child would do: I started to find other smaller bugs and fed them to the two spiders. I watched them spin the webs around the helpless critters, watched them suck the life out of them (I figured the exterminators would come for its regular spraying and kill them anyway). Well, after an hour of doing this, I picked up and accidentally dropped a piece of plywood on my toe (I was moving stuff around the shed to find some spiders, see). Now, I think the toenail will fall off after it turns purple. Needless to say, I stopped feeding the spiders. Am I evil or what? I think Im afraid of bad karma. Wait, do you mean you dropped the spider on your toe? Sorry if that sounds dense!

Oh sorry, I've edited it to clarify myself. I dropped a piece of wood... actually a 6 foot piece of redwood deck. It landed with the entire weight of the wood onto my foot. It still hurts after a few days, but it's much better now.

Oh ok. I thought it was the spider you dropped and I was really scared that it had given you a black toenail
