awesome rihanna cover!
I just found this really awesome cover of Rihanna's Umbrella off of myspace...this cover was done by Marie Digby, but not only is her cover amazing but her original music is really good as well. I went to her myspace and found out she has an album coming out 4/8 so I will definitely be buying that. Here is a link if you guys want to see what I'm talking about: www.myspace.com/mariedigby
let me know what you think of her! Lucy umgd |

It's not bad but it is sickening to see all the covers of this song already.
The song isn't even that good it is just kinda disturbing to me |

I'm trying to imagine Taylor Swift covering it and I just can't. Not sure why exactly but it just doesn't seem to be a song to suit her. But then again, I haven't heard it so I don't know.

McFly Umbrella cover
Another cover of the Rihanna song 'Umbrella' was performed by the UK band McFly,it was a heavy electric guitar based version,i really liked it actually,i think its on Youtube from their live gigs.
I think the McFly boys are very underated, they are not a silly teeny-bop boyband, they write their own songs, all the lyrics and music, they sing and play live on all tours and TV appearances, they are not a manufactured band, and they have had several top selling albums, singles and sell out live tours under their belts already. They admit that their biggest influences in music are The Beatles,The Who and Bruce Springstein. They all play their insruments extremely well including Drums,Electric and Acoustic Guitars,Bass Guitars and Piano, not too shabby. I am 43 years old, married, and i like these guys,so its a pity that they get tarnished with the young typical talentless boyband image, its not the case at all, they dont get the credit they deserve. Think about this for a minute, when The Beatles started in around 1962-3,George Harrison was only 17 years old and Lennon/McCartney were only 19 and Ringo was about 20,so their age did not go against them, they tuened out to be the biggest band in the world EVER,and they always will be. So,give the McFly guys a chance, their second album Wonderland is excellent,i think you will be surprised. Cheers Crawfy !!! |

I heard a Manic Street Preachers cover of Umbrella over the weekend also. That song has legs!

I love Mandy Moore's cover. I hate the Rihanna version. But the Mandy Moore version really spoke to me... it makes me think of my wife and I despite that we aren't together anymore...

I'm kind of into Rihanna but realized pretty recently that her recent album is mostly a rip-off of current european dance styles -- like check this list on itunes http://electricnation2010.com/tracks
