Welcome to our forum Eibhlin aka Andrea, i know your not into Jewel that much, but we are going to try very hard here to convert you lol.

Andrea is from erm....somewhere in the mid west US, somewhere like arkinsaw, you'll have to excuse me Andrea its been ages since we spoke. Shes shy, she has 3 girls and has an old rickerty truck lol. :P

Well Dave, thanks for the welcome. I must admit though that you have my location abysmally wrong as I am in fact in the south eastern US, North Carolina. Lol! You do however have the other bits right, and I am quite a fan of Jewels poetry. My favorite poems are: I Don't Suppose Raindrops, Wild Horse, We Have Been Called, You Are Not, and finally Steady Yourself, which seems to apply to my life quite well right now. Ah well, as for not being as obsessive as Dave...well, he will have to overlook that for now ;) :thxblush:

Yep, That is gaelic or gaeilge as we call it here. THough that dialect is quite different so I would say it is Scotch Gaelic.

I speak Gaeilge but not fluently (I know, the shame of it). I just love my native language and I love reading it in poems. Thanks for that Dave.

Ok...sorry for going off on a tangent there.

I think thats so cool that you can speak gaelic-it is one of many things I want to learn. I do medieval re-enacting type stuff in the SCA, or Society of Creative Anachronists, and my persona is 14th century Irish/Gaelic, thus the name Eibhlin (an Eich Ghil to complete it) but alas, I havent made the time to learn anything yet :) I would also like to learn suomi, as I am mostly finnish, hmm, I seem to pick difficult languages to want to learn...

Well, thats me, looking for a challenge I guess!

Yes Irish (Gaeilge - pronounced GaleGa) is a very difficult language which explains why so many Irish people today don't speak it even a little bit let alone fluently, even though it is taught in school from the beginning til the day they leave. The grammar is just so hard and the pronunciation can be a little difficult when you see how the word is spelt. I still LOVE IT though.

Believe it or not, it is still not a recognised european langauge despite it being one of the oldest in the region. Irish people have been fighting for decades for it to be recognised, until now, without success. It is of course, a recognised language here but it would be nice if others in the world could learn it and have it recognised.

I can see we will get on very well indeed! :D
