Happy Independence Day
To all whom observe 4th of July,
I wanted to wish them a happy Independence Day. Happy 4th to those who served (If there are any who are on the forum other than myself, speak up!) This is your our holiday as we share our similar bond in our own fraternity, those who elected to do our dudilligence to our nation. I say Godspeed and God Bless to every person who answered teh call of duty. I'd love to hear some of your stories, too, and I may decide to share one or two of my own. Happy 4th to all Americans, and celebrate this day not for those who served you know of, celebrate thihs day for those who did not make it back amd those who are buried 'over there' right now. God Bless, PO1 Jones |

Kiera, now that I may ask, does Ireland observe a holiday based upon their independence? We have 4th of July, do you all celebrate something similar?

Nope....we have Paddy's day and that's fun enough. The fact that we're independent is great but there isn't an official day to mark it. With ireland being so Catholic, we have tonnes of holy days that we don't have to work.

Thanks for explaining that, I was wondering if it was just the USA who had things like that.
ANd hey, there's nothing wrongwith St. Patrick's Day, I love it. I'm not Irish, but I have a ball when they turn the bay green here where I live. (Hey, if they can turn Winyah Bay green for one day, why can't hey keep it blue for the other 364 days!) I'm very familliar with the sruglles between Irish indepenedence from the English, and I actually have a lot of respect for the Irish and their cause. That's just my take on it anyways. |

Happy belated 4th Of July everyone, I can honestly say I have had and will have better Independence Days. All my friends were either working or too far away, but my sisters' weren't so they had a blast. My mom and relatives were also working or busy, which sucks, because the 4th is also my mama's birthday, and of course, NO ONE would cover for her. Not to mention it was raining on and off throughout the day, and the cops this year in our neighborhood are stronger and stricter about enforcing the crackdown on fireworks usage. It was just me and my dad when we went to watch the professional fireworks, so I still managed to have good end of the day at least.
