I mean... there's not much to tell, just listen to the lyrics of Life Uncommon. It's like Jewel is whispering inspirational words into my ear and it just is how I want to be... to "fill my life with love and bravery" and to "lend our voices only to sounds of freedom, no longer lend our strength to that which we wish to be free from"
that along with Good Day usually help me get through rough patches in my day-to-day life.

Yeah. I try to live up to Life Uncommon as well. "there are plenty of people who pray for peace, but if praying were enough it would have come to be." I just agree with that whole heartedly... thats why I went into the line of work I'm in--social work. I also love the line "Fill your lives with love and bravery..." which inspires me to follow my heart and my dreams even if its scary and not what is "expected" of me. For intsance, I just bought my first horse--a wild mustang and he is freakin' awesome. Everybody thought I was crazy but its been a life long dream that I needed to make come true. Another example was when my boyfriend of 7 1/2 years moved out of state for a 5 year graduate school career, I chose to stay where I'm at because I love my job, where I'm at, and what I do (I teach therapeutic horse back riding and vaulting to kids with disabilities!) Everybody thought that was dumb too because he and "should get married" and "you have to be where your boyfriend is." Thats BS to me. You need to be brave and make your dreams happen--no one's going to do it for you.

Wow I am glad you are at the forum. You are the type person I really value being here. I really respect you for being in the social work field (my wife is also in that field) And I am glad you are doing what you feel is right with your life and not just giving into the pressures of everyone else.

Thanks! I really appreciate that! Ya know, its tough enough to make those decisions but when you have so many other people questioning you, it just makes it tougher...

I totally agree. For me, or I should say US, it was getting married when we did. My wife was still in school and we were only 20 years old, and while everyone sort of delt with it, it was obvious they thought we were rushing into it and some even made harsh comments.. well I just want them to eat their words b/c everything has worked out for the best and we're coming up on our 4th anniv. and things are still going great.
Now I am just patiently waiting to start a family..

I can't say that I've really tried to live out a song per se, but there are many songs that seem like they came directly from my life. When I first heard these songs, I stopped in my tracks....it was that similar. There's a couple songs by Sugarland that come to mind (for those who haven't seen my MySpace blog); Small Town Jericho and Fly Away.(Sorry if this is long, I wanted to share the lyrics with you all!)
"Small Town Jericho" by Sugarland Well, it's two miles East to West Only four miles North to South, And when you pass the only red light You will see the pastor's house. People look you in the eye And they smile at you and wave. Yeah, they always take the time To stop and ask you, 'How's your day?' It's hard to say goodbye 'Cause baby, it's a good life... At the high school football game Is where I got my first kiss. I still feel the butterflies, I still taste it on my lips. And when we lost our Uncle Jake Back in 1983, We heard Daddy upstairs weepin' So we cried ourselves to sleep. It's hard to say goodbye 'Cause baby, it's a good life... Goodbye to memories that I saved, Goodbye to all the friends I made, Goodbye to all the home I'll ever know... Small town Jericho... And every road here looks the same This ol' town won't ever change. And that's what I love the most And it's the reason I must go... I put boxes on the porch Daddy puts them in the car Best to get the loadin' done Won't be easy in the dark. 'Cause I'm leavin' after midnight And if anyone asks why, I wanna wait 'til Mama's sleepin' 'Cause I can't bear to see her cry. It's hard to say goodbye 'Cause baby, it's a good life... Goodbye to memories that I saved, Goodbye to all the friends I made, Goodbye to all the home I'll ever know... Small town Jericho...goodbye... ************************************************** ***** "Fly Away" Oh I swear this town gets smaller everyday, and I'm waitin for my chance. I'm gonna break away. I'm so sick and tired of being told what's good for me. People got lots of ideas, of who I'm supposed to be. Angel carry me, oh so far away. May my body never... touch the ground. And if I promise you that I'll be back someday, Will you set me free so I can fly away? Fly away... fly away... Well most folks here well they don't dig too deep. They can't dream too big... cause they've got fields to keep. I could walk away and leave behind my family, Or get buried alive in this legacy. I wanna sleep under a different piece of sky I wanna live a little bit before I die I wanna be so close to heaven I see angels... Carry me, oh so far away. May my body never... touch the ground. And if I promise you that I'll be back someday, Will you set me free so I can fly away? Fly away....Fly away...

Wow, I can totally understand the need to buy a crazy wild mustang...i have been infatuated with horses ever since I can remember. Don't on one yet, but someday!
Hmm, as for living out a song...well, there have been alot that have offered up great quotes that I think about often, I mean I could list tons of them but the ones that I think about most are probably these: Jethro Tull: I'm sitting on the corner feeling glad, got no money comin in but I can't be sad, that was the best cup of coffee I 've ever had and I won't worry about a thing because we've got it made, here on the inside, outside so far away Dave Matthews: Hands and feet are all alike, but fear between divide us - The future is no place to place your better days - ah well, it really depends on the day and the mood for me, I can't pin it on one song or one band.
