Last year i spent xmas day on a beach in Morroco
This year will not be as exciting, just lounging around i suppose, not doing much. Getting stuck in the xmas traffic, watching people getting more and more agitated over the price of cards and wrapping paper. I think xmas has become a waste of time. Not so much the idea of xmas, the nativity etc, but more the commercialism of it all. In the UK if you wait just 6 days you will get the presents for HALF the price if not less in the January sales. Some even start on Dec 26th! So why do we all make sure that our pressents are bought at the begining of November and that our decorations are up in time.....in time for who exactly? Oh well, perhaps next year i will be on some beach again....away from it all.... :lalala: dave.

I'll do the same old thing I'll go to my paternal Grandmother's place and open presents on Christmas Eve. Then I'll go home with my mom and stepdad and we'll open presents. Then on christmas day we'll get our gifts from "santa" and the rest of the day I can go to my Grandmother's place again or go to my stepdad's side of the family. Whatever I want.

Anyhoo, I'll be working (hopefully) right up until Christmas Eve, then I'll go home to Lancaster, PA, and then on christmas day we'll be going down to Baltimore, MD to visit with some family. It'll be fun, we really don't see much of them since they live so far away.

Well this year is going to be totally different because i will be spending it with my dad and new boyfriend(who is lovely btw) In the past few years i have spent the christmas period at my Grandma's with my family which is always lovely but unfortunately that time has come to an end now she has passed away and the family has started to drift a bit.
Its crazy to think how different this christmas will be to last year when i was newly married and stressed out. My ex hated christmas and it was always a depressing kind of time, this year i am actually allowed to look forward to it, to write cards and put up decorations and sing carols!! i can sit around and sing and strum a little geeetar whilst the lights twinkle. so roll on 11am christmas eve when my boyfriends train rolls into the station.(god that sounded dirty, i didn`t mean it like that)

Well I am having a quiet Christmas day with Peter, with a simple dinner, some wine and a fire going. On St Stephen's day (26th Dec) which is treated like another Christmas day here in Ireland, we are having my mother, my sister and my niece over for a full proper Christmas dinner. My older sister and her boyfriend might come for supper but not sure yet.
I am really looking forward to just being with my family. I will go to my Mum's on Christmas morning which is where we all get together to exchange gifts. We do a Chris Kindl (Secret Santa) every year as there are so many of us. It also makes it more special. Although we get alot of snow in our sleepy village, it has been forecast that we will have mild, relatively dry weather so no White Christmas here. |
