I can only imagine.....cause I've never seen her in concert before!! :(
I get chills down my spine just from watching the Live at Humphrey's Bay DVD, so I can't EVEN imagine what it's like to actually be in the same room with her and just her guitar!! Even when she does have the band play behind her, you still get an acoustic feeling because the focus is totally on her....the balance of the sound is perfect because it lets Jewel's voice totally shine on its own. The band really just functions as ornamentation to her, and doesn't drown her out like you see in many live concerts.
I'd like to hear other's thoughts on your Jewel concert experiences here!! Thanks so much!
If she doesn't make a tour stop anywhere near I live, I'm gonna buy a plane ticket and go wherever that may be!! You never know when or if she'll be touring again, so I figure I better do it while the opportunity is there. :D

It's out of this world. I was actually in the same room as her. I mean she touched me. On my right shoulder. She actually talked to me on stage too. I will never forget it.

Never got to meet her but seeing her live is truly exhilerating. I don't think the goosepimples went down til the next morning I was so psych'd.
I was 17 when I last saw her play and I am 25 now. It feels like a heck of a lot longer.
What annoys me about seeing her then as apposed to if I saw her live now, is that although I truly appreciated seeing her live, I was not open to any angelfood at the time. I had Pieces of You, Spirit and a bootlegged Unplugged I made myself from the video I had when I recorded it off the TV. Jewel sung loads of songs that night I didn't know and I couldn't appreciate them all in the same way I could now.
I also saw her play a small gig in Whelan's Pub when I was just 15. I was 'snuck' in by a friend of my sisters who was able to get me in. As I was under age, I wasn't allowed in the pub past 9pm but I didn't get caught so it was fine. She played 7 songs that night. Whelans is a great place for performers to play. The atmosphere is excellent and because of its intimate nature, you feel more connected with the performer and I just remembered being totally star struck that night. I was right at the back but it was still great.
I really feel like I need the opportunity to really fully appreciate Jewel's music from a proper, well informed stance. I just really need to see her live again and better still, I would really love to meet her. Even if she says nothing except Hi, I would be just so honoured to meet her.

I saw Jewel live twice and that was this past year all within 1 week of each other. I was never soo exicited!! When she came on stage i just got chills.. I was totaly awe stucked.. (i was 3rd row dead center so i was maybe 15ft away if that!! and 4th row dead center at the second concert). I just stared at her the entire time and even made eye contact a few times.. I was like th eonly one in the front that new her music let alone the only guy.. Everyone else was rob thomas fans... but It was oo amazing.. Hell i even ended up with her guitar pic and the set list!! Its just so amazing to hear her live and know she is singing her heart out. (Hell i even have parts of the second concert on video... :) ) I cant wait till she comes back again i hope i can get even closer then i was... i would probally die if she spoke or touched me lol..

WOW I got chills just from reading your stories!!! :) I've just GOT to go to one of her concerts during this tour. I may wait to see if there's going to be more dates announced for the so-called "East Coast" tour. I'll just have to see what happens! Thanks for sharing your experiences with me! (and all the other 200-some members here!!!):D

I saw her once at Summerfest in 2002 (she was on her This Way tour), it wasn't too much longer after my 16th birthday. It was on a sidestage you can imagine how crowded and pushy it can get. But I was able to stand up pretty close. I couldn't believe it was happening and I was actually seeing Jewel, so it kind of went by in a blur because I wasn't even able to process it. Anyway, she sounded SO amazing and her voice was stellar and unbelievable. She did a few sets with her band and a solo acoustic part which was my favorite. When I heard her perform "Little Sister" it was like I was listening to the record; I was like wow! the voice I fell in love with is right in front of me! I was also glad she performed a lot of her POY songs because I was afraid she wasn't going to do any. She was a class act- using her voice, talent, and performance skills to the best of her ability; nothing was done halfassed, and she was very friendly and grateful to the audience. She also smiled at me a couple of times! Her band was also very friendly. She performed a total of 22 songs! My voice got sore from singing along. You can definitely tell that she thinks a lot of her audience and her fans. Her concert was even better than I thought it would be! It was so good that like I said, I still can barely process that it happened and I can't think of the right words to describe it! So anyway, here are the songs she did (my favorites were her solo and encore; she sounded so beautiful during the encore, a total chanteusse)
Band Set 1:
I Won't Walk Away
Standing Still
Do You Want To Play?
Jesus Loves You
Hands
Till We Run Out Of Road
This Way
Solo:
Little Sister
Morning Song
Cold Song
You Were Meant For Me
Band Set 2:
Life Uncommon
Down So Long
Love Ain't For Lovers Anymore
Serve The Ego
Love Me Just Leave Me Alone
Everybody Needs Someone Sometime
The New Wild West
Who Will Save Your Soul
Encore:
Foolish Games
The Other Woman
Chime Bells

The time I saw her I was probably 15 ft away and she was singing and made eye contact. I'm sure she couldn't see me but she was looking straight in my direction and it made me nervous I was like uh uhhhhhhh and was looking off to the side.

I saw her twice..
the first time in Louisville, KY at the Louisville Palace
the second in Nashville at the Gaylord Entertainment Center
I really enjoyed the first concert better
partially because it was the first time I saw her,
and it was acoustic, plus I was soo close
oh, and during "Carnivore" I had chill bumps because through that whole line
where she says..."..through a telescope. Lavender haunted you.. so I could
only laugh in yellow.." she starred at me the whole time lol i was just mouthing the words with her
well when I just went to look for the lyrics to confirm, I found them saying
"Lavender haunted you.. so I could own your life in yellow."
well now i'm confused.

I have the lyrics like you sang them...."So I could only laugh in yellow"
But I wouldn't be surprised if the alternate lyrics had been sung before, too, since she changes lyrics to songs around a lot. :)

Seen her 6 times.. always cry for the first 5 songs, lol. Being in the same room with her is just phenomenal... and her voice is just so damn perfect when you're actually THERE. I like it when the light bouncing off her guitar hits me when I'm in the audience. :)

I remember when I first saw her I was way in the back but I had tears in my eyes when she sang 1000 miles away. So beautiful

I have a version of this song where she's singing and then she forgets what to play on her guitar so the guitar stops, and she finishes a line and says. "god damn it..." And then starts the song from where it left off. It cracks me up.

It's been great reading all about your 'Jewel live' experiences, lets hope it's not too long till she ventures over to the UK,or anywhere in Europe for that matter,so the rest of us poor souls who have not been lucky enough to see her live, can write our emotional descriptions of our wonderful Jewel experience.
Cheers Crawfy !!! :acoustic:

I am one of these lost souls too who never have the pleasure seen her live =(. 1 Question @ LDR, do you mean that she touched your shoulder saying, or did you speak with jewel or took a foto? (=veryinterrestedin=)
My lifesdream is to be on a concert of her one day... maybe it will come true I HOPE ^_^ i love her

I did a meet and greet backstage before the concert. I actually did talk to her and she did touch me for real. I do have a photo but it's locked up in storage with all my stuff and it's not on my computer I don't think. Nope it's not. It didn't turn out great but I'll have to get it out someday and post it.
