Hi gang,do any of you fellow JKF members out there have any Roddy Frame material ?
You know the guy,he was the lead singer and songwriter with Scottish band 'Aztec Camera' through the 1980's and 90's.
He comes from East Kilbride, which is 5 mins from my house in Glasgow,so i have always had a keen interest in his music.
He is an excellent songwriter and an awesome guitar player. His style is very 'Jewel' like,he certainly plays lots of acoustic songs, and he has very descriptive, quirky, and kind of obscure lyrics like Jewel often has.
The albums 'Stray' ,and 'Love' were a couple my favourites, the lyrics are fantastic, and the melodies are brilliant, and also 'Dreamland',this is a great CD too.
There is a good site called KillermontStreet.com which will give you an insite in to what he is all about.
Songs like 'Killermont Street' or 'How Men Are' or 'Safe In Sorrow' and 'Stray' are amazing tracks, well worth a listen.
I have seen him live a few times, and he is superb, but he is heading to Japan next month to tour,so it may be a while before he does anymore UK gigs.:(
If you are not familiar with his stuff,i can recommend him highly,he is a cool guy, check him out !!!
Unfortunately,I have not being keeping up to date with his recent stuff, but i am going to check it out now, since looking at his website, please give him some of your valuable time.
He is really like a male Jewel, his music is all about being creative, doing what music you enjoy, and not worrying if you are conforming with the usual expectations of record companies etc.He does it for himself, and his loyal fans, not the fame or the cash !!!
Let me know if you are a current fan too,all the best.
Cheers guy's & gal's !!!
Crawfy.
