Possible Jewel Singles Never Considered...

ok...so, this is really an interesting topic ....throughout jewel's career, we've been through polls and polls of what should've been well.... the new single from that jewel album....... to start this conversation off right, let's demonstrate this by album....

PIECES OF YOU - um, althought his album has already been sucked dry and overdried for singles - MORNING SONG (definitely a major remix) - i believe there's a morning song remix out there, just never heard it!

SPIRIT - this album is full of them, wtf was down so long for? lol....i was mad that was the second single.... i'd go with KISS THE FLAME......and ABSENCE OF FEAR

THIS WAY - i choose lots here - DO YOU WANT TO PLAY? and I WON"T WALK AWAY.....and SERVE THE EGO radio remix if possible!

0304 - i think RUN 2 U, Becoming, YES U CAN, 2 FIND U

unreleased - shadow's play..... even other artists release singles not pertained to albums in between albums...i think jewel should really consider this to keep her in the....knowing to the public...even if she decides to take it easy during - works great :)

so what are your picks?

I think the Pieces Of You and Spirit single choices were very good...I don't think "Morning Song" should've been a single, I think it should just remain a gem to the album.

"I Won't Walk Away" would've been either a massive success or a huge flop, but either way, releasing it as a single wouldn't've been a bad decision, I do agree with you on that, Michael. Yeah, "Do You Want To Play?" was also potential single material..."Serve The Ego"...meh, I don't think it would've gotten much airplay.

Like I've said before, every song on 0304 was potential single material, which was already bad IMO, but made the album and singles even worse because they got little promotion. 0304 only achieved mediocre success because it wasn't promoted properly.

I would love to see "Shadows Play" as a single...and I imagine a mysterious, sombre video. But something tells me we'd be very lucky if it ever made an album at all.

Here's what I think:

Pieces of You
I think the singles were picked out perfectly, so I wouldn't change anything.


Spirit
I think Down So Long was a good choice, as was the Jupiter remix. It's a shame that they didn't better than they were. If I had to choose though, I think that Life Uncommon definitely should've been a single. Barcelona would've been good also, as well as Innocence Maintained... maybe. Possibly Do You also. Absence of Fear though? Definitely not. It's one of my favorite songs on the album, but it's not single material, in my opinion.


This Way
I think they made a bad mistake by choosing Break Me and This Way as the 2nd and 3rd singles, especially since they're both love songs. I believe that Everybody Needs Someone Sometime would've been a good choice, as well as Do You Want To Play, Serve the Ego, I won't Walk Away and possibly Love Me Just Leave Me Alone. I kinda think The New Wild West also, but I in a way... not. Don't know *shrugs*

2 Become 1 was a good choice, but they should've promoted it better. I think that Leave the Lights On could've been a good single, it's dark and has a Jazzy type of feel to it. :) Haunted? Maybe. I think it would've been good so that people knew the album wasn't all pop fluff. Sweet Temptation woudld've been good also, as well as Yes U Can and maybe America. Becoming would've also been a great choice. :)

That's just my opinion though.

i dunno...some slow piano songs do make it to radio...maybe a remix for absence of fear...i dunno...lol...i still love it anyhow... ;)

as for pieces of you...yah, no other single was needed - though i really want to know what that MORNING SONG radio mix sounded like!

spirit, i guess down so long was good...i'm just mad it didn't do so well ....yah...jupiter would've done extremely well with good promotion... i think spirit marked the beginning of atlantic's bad promotion for anything other than the first single.

I am still a bit confused why they picked Jupiter over Stranger from the East on the spirit album. I know she changed the tempo of Jupiter but I always through Stranger from the East would have been a more suiting song to relate to.

The song is also called "Stranger", so let's cut Kiera some slack for mixing it up. I would also love to hear the "Morning Song" remixes...it's my favorite song from Pieces Of You.

i am not saying she's dumb..... i was just wondering b/c that's what it actually says on the album itself...i know the other song of it though titles it probably that way...there's many names to some of jewel's songs - you can see this @ angel needs a ride

Eh, I don't think Enter from the East would've been a good choice. It's a nice song, but it probably would've been too slow for radio.

from albums: i all really liked; don`t, amen,absence of fear, enter from the east,do you want to play? maybe they could have been singles.
i`d rather she did release more new songs that weren`t on the albums though coz she has so many and there are so many good ones.
i tend to only buy singles if they have a new track on them as well.

Ya all know what I am saying should of been a single off of 0304..
YES U CAN... Im very upset it wasn't would of easily climbed the charts at least it should of and the club mixes and such it would of produced. I'd actually wanna go out to the club and dance then instead of listening to this crappy stuff they got now but my list..

I just bought the Morning Song single from amazon.com, and it comes with this track list:

Radio Remix
Album Mix
Reggae Remix

The radio one is exactly the basic same transformation from Foolish Games (album) to Foolish Games (radio). It has drums, more guitar, bass, and a bunch of other stuff. The album mix is pretty self explanatory (i cant spell :D ) And the Reggae mix is REALLY REALLY wierd! It sounds OK. Its really hard to describe so I wont try to. Ill send it to Michael (Michael's Jewel) once I have enough time, so y'all can hear it on his site.
