Question: What's in your cd player these days?

Jewel's Answer: The mixes to my new CD - just work - other than that I listen to Fabulous 690 - a big band station in CA - or to old country when I'm in TX.


Question: Who are your musical influences?

Jewel's Answer: Nabokov, Neruda, Nancy Griffith, Cole Porter, Dylan, Ibsen, bullies, poverty, depression, joy.

Question: What is your proudest accomplishment?

Jewel's Answer: I've made it to 31 years old & I sleep good at night cause I don't feel too embarrassed by my behavior over my life. I haven't lost myself, I'm doing ok.


Question: What subject causes you to rant?

Jewel's Answer: Ohhh, gosh - depends on how tired I am. I guess I get irritated when people stop trying. I like people who are engaged in whatever they see fit to be in to. Republican, Liberal, Born again - I like anyone who is in the mix & trying to figure it out. Thoughtlessness - even the charitable, good intending kind, annoys me. That's bad, I know, but there it is...

the funny thing is.... is that you'd expect someone who grew up on a ranch in Alaska and then lived in their car for a year to not be that educated, and when u see Jewel... she doesnt look like the 'smart dorky type' so when she opens her mouth and talks... its really wierd because shes smart.

I would think the opposite. There wasn't a lot to do up there other than read loads and listen to music. She did live in her car by choice too which I think is really empowering.
