VERSE AND CHORUS 2 SAME CHORDS
------------vvvvv----------------
I'm embarassed to say
The rest is a rock and roll cliche
I hit the bottom when i reached the top
Never knew it was you
Who was breaking my heart
I thought you had to love me
But you did not
Yes, a heart can hallucinate
If its completely stuffed for life
Can even make monsters seem like
Angels from above
Forged my love like a weapon
Turned it against me like a knife
Broke my last heart string
But you opened up my eyes
So goodbye Alice in Wonderland
Goodbye yellow brick road
There is a difference between dreaming and pretending
That was not love in your eyes
It was only a reflection
Of my lonely mind wanting
What was missing in my life
------------^^^^^----------------
BRIDGE:Em D G C Bm C D
Em
Dreaming is a good thing
D
Cause it brings new things to life
G
Pretending is an ending
C
That perpetuates a lie
Bm
Forgetting what you are
C D
Seeing for what you've been told
Em D
And growing up is not the answer to dreaming
G C
Its being able to understand the difference between
Bm C D
The ones you can hold and the ones that you've been sold
Em D G Em
Truth is stranger than fiction
D G Em
This is my chance to get it right
D G
Life is much better
D
Without all of your pretty lies
G C D G
So goodbye Alice in Wonderland
C D
You can keep your yellow brick road
G C D G
There is a difference between dreaming and pretending
Em C
That was not love in your eyes
It was only a reflection
G D C
Of my lonely mind wanting
It was only a reflection
G D
Of my lonely mind wishing
C Em(upward strum)
That you were what was missing from my life

Here's the lyrics that i think are nearly 100% of what jewel sings in the video
Goodbye Alice in Wonderland ~ Jewel

My youth scattered along the highway
Hotel rooms in headlights

Of my lonely mind wanting

I'm embarassed to say
The rest is a rock and roll cliche
I hit the bottom when i reached the top
but i never knew it was you
Who was breaking my heart
I thought you had to love me
But you did not
Yes, a heart can hallucinate
If its completely starved for love
Can even turn monsters
Angels from above
you forged my love just like a weapon
and turned it against me like a knife
you broke my last heart string
you opened up my eyes
So goodbye Alice in Wonderland
Goodbye yellow brick road
There is a difference between dreaming and pretending
That was not love in your eyes
It was only a reflection
Of my lonely mind searching
for whats been missing in my life
And growing up is not the absence of dreaming
Its being able to understand the difference between
The ones you can hold and the ones that you've been sold
Dreaming is a good thing
Cause it brings new things to life
Pretending is an ending
That perpetuates a lie
Forgetting what you are
Seeing for what you've been told
Truth is stranger than fiction
This is my chance to get it right
and life is much better
Without all of those pretty lies
So goodbye Alice in Wonderland
and you can keep your yellow brick road
There is a difference between dreaming and pretending
these are not tears in my eyes
they are only a reflection
Of my lonely mind finding
they are only a reflection
Of my lonely mind finding
i found whats missing in my life

Geezus... was this really necessary?! :umno:
It's like the same thing, except for:
Em G D Am
Hotel rooms in headlights, I've made a living with a song
Em G D Em
Guitar as my companion, wanting desperately to be belong
D G Em D G Em
Fame is filled with spoiled children, they grow fat on fantasy
D G D
I guess that's why I'm leaving, I crave reality
which, it might not be your fault, but the order and some of the chords are out of place. Try playing that with the song.

I found it to be very similar to 'Til we run out of road'
Don't ya think?

Yeh, your right kyle, what a dumb ass I am for posting this on a thread called Goodbye Alice Lyrics & Tabs. :umno:
Don't worry, I will never post to this forum topic again...

I think they both work in their own ways.
I think it's good to have several options to try. So please do not refrain from posting tabs if you want to.
Kyle, you're great at the guitar tabs, no-one can dare question that. I doubt Phil meant any insult. Just an alternative depending on your own personal strumming style.

I wasn't being mean.
Or, at least, I wasn't trying to be.
The lyrics in Lucky Phil's version are acurate.
And this part is right:
Am-----------------Em----
Guitar as my companion
This is correct for the album version, but I tabbed mine out from the live version that was on unedited.
Sorry to offend.

Kyle, my intensions were not to try show anybody up, if it wasn't for your tanscription of the live version i probably would have not bothered to even play it. I'm think i gave thanks to you guys in the original post.
Any mods I make to someone elses transcription will now be only posted to my website and credit giving were credit is due.
Besides, it is too hard to post with any kind of accuracy in the forums anyway, no matter which way I tried it, the chords seem to loose alignment somehow.

it's an unfortunate side effect of any forum software that I have ever used.
