I don't have any of her books either. I want to get both Chasing Down the Dawn and Revealing Jewel but haven't had a chance to yet. It's definitely on my list though.. I love her poems and love her as a person so I think I'll enjoy both books.. it's just another thing that I can enjoy of Jewel :agree:

Chasing Down the Dawn
Music Books for: POY, Spirit, This Way, and 0304
Revealing Jewel
Angel Standing By: The Story of Jewel

Iv 'A Night Without Armor' but i must say tho, not all of it interested me...alot of her earlier stuff was nice with a slight tinge of punk and great artistic expression etc...but some i just could not complete reading fully :P

I have Chasing Down the Dawn in hardcover and paper back...two different cover photos. I haven't read either but I know they will be good. Someone gave it to me on tape too. Who has a cassette drive anymore???
I also have Revealing Jewel.

I have Chasing Down the Dawn and I loved it, I am hoping to get A Night w/o Armor for Christmas this year since you can get it for a penny on amazon - ha. But I haven't ever heard of the others, Revealing Jewel or Angel Standing By. Anyone have info on them? and they have music books for the albums as well?

I have Chasing Down the Dawn, A Night Without Armor and Revealing Jewel. Revealing Jewel is a really nice book written by her family and friends. It's a true account of who Jewel is as seen by those closest to her so it's really nice to read.
You can still buy it so perhaps you could ask for it for your birthday ;)

Hi,i am not a reader at all,i had probably only read a couple of books in my whole life, but i read my hardback copy of 'Chasing Down The Dawn' and i loved every minute of it.I really felt i got to know the real Jewel, her writing was so personal and expressive that i could'nt put it down,i thought it was fantastic, and i recommend every Jewel fan who has'nt read it,to try to a.s.a.p.
I have ordered another copy of it so that i can lend it out to other people who i have encouraged to check it out,and my copy has pride of place on my glass coffee table.
I also have 'A Night Without Armor' and i liked the poetry very much.
I will have to try to track down the other books mentioned in this topic.
I also have mint copies of her tour programmes.
I always try to collect anything concerning Jewel.
Oh,i was in Florida late November and on the second day we were driving down the 192 Highway and i was flicking through the radio stations when i came across Jewel singing Who Will Save Your Soul,it was so cool, you just don't seem to hear her in the UK very often,so it was brill to cruise down the Highway lin the sunshine istening to her.
Wish i could have seen her live when we were there but the gigs were too far away, still there is always next year,(hopefully).
Cheers everyone !!!

I have these 3 as well....however, I forgot I had Revealing Jewel and said in the poll I only have the other 2. Oops!!
They're all GREAT! For those of you who may not have any of them, I'd recommend reading CDTD first and go to Revealing Jewel next. Revealing Jewel really solidifies everything special about Jewel that you learn about in CDTD because it's accounts taken by family, friends, and those in the music industry. They all have the same great things to say about her!

ALSO, I found another book available about Jewel called "Heart Song: The Story Of Jewel" by Scott Gray. Apparently this author loves to write about people who came from small towns and have risen to fame. His other books include biographies on Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, and Shania Twain. You can get it for dirt cheap at Amazon.com.

I never knew that. Are there 2 versions by any chance a 'bridged' version and an 'unabridged' version. If so, then I presume the version you have is bridged meaning it has been cut down.
Well I'll check that one out a bit further.

the one I have is 87 tracks, maybe the unabridged version is just one straight track including all the poems??

Never seen or heard of that book before! Looks very professional.
I've checked it out. It was published by Omnibus Press in 1998 and written by Mark Bego (http://www.markbego.com/bio.htm). You can buy used copies of it at Amazon.com. It is now out of press.

I just got this book in the mail the other day. I MUST say this book is awesome!! The first half of the book is mostly detailed description of Jewel's life as a child and how those experiences lead to the person she became as an adult. There's also some things mentioned that I never really knew about...the description of daily life and they way she sees her goals really makes you feel like you're experiencing it with her. Very good book!! Everyone go get this one, it's spectacular!

i have Chasing Down The Dawn. I really enjoyed reading it.
I wish I had Chasing Down The Dawn and Revealing Jewel. Is there some interesting details? Like, did jewel have a guitar when she came to San Diego? While she was homless, did her Mom live in a car too? I did read a few thing, but never really understand how things went...

I think Revealing Jewel is the best of all her books and it has the most interesting information about her life from her closest friends and family. Her mom, brothers, Ty Murray, Steve Poltz, Alan Bershaw and guys in her band are all interviewed in it and it has a lot of great photography behind the scenes like in the studio and at home.

From what I read in the book, it is my understanding that Jewel had a van, and her mom had her own van. They parked them next to each other, and that's how they lived. They took scraps of fabric and fashioned curtains in the back so they could sleep. You should def. read this book, I learned quite a bit from it.

I got four books. But gotta say that I don't really get the poems. Maybe it's the language barrier, or maybe I'm just illiterate, or maybe I'm just not a fan of poetry. But I bought the book anyways :excl: Just wanted to 'have' it :cool2:
- A Night Without Armor
- Chasing Down the Dawn
- Revealing Jewel
- Angel Standing By: The Story of Jewel

I have both the book of poetry and Chasing down the Dawn (which is my fav)a s well as the revealing boko and a biography.
I must say that "Chasing" really influenced my journal writing. I started to imitate her style a bit with much more reflection and mood, or at least trying to incorporate that in a journal entry. I remember buying taht book and read it in a few days, awesome book.
