JEWEL TALKS ABOUT HER NEW RELEASE!
"'Goodbye Alice in Wonderland' is no fairy tale, but still a strange tale indeed; it is the story of my life - from the extreme solitude of alaska, to my first trip to hollywood. From my rise to fame, to the cliche crisis of betrayals by those closest and most dearly trusted.
This is the most autobiographical album i have made since 'pieces of you', and i spent alot of time sequencing it, so that each song sets up the next, like a novel with a begining, middle, and an end. By the end of the 13th song, if you have listened closely, you will have heard the story of the sirens song that seduced me, of a path i both followed and led, of bizarre twists and turns that opened my eyes, forcing me to find solutions so that my loss of innocence would not lead to a loss of hope until, ultimately, the path turned back on its self, leading me closer to where i began; a ranch, this time in stephenville texas, where i find my self delivered from the magic forest. Not broken, just more myself."

So I wonder why Alice wasn't the first single..
She says its her most autobigraphiccal song on her most autobiographical record.
You would think she would want people to hear it.
Anyone think it's gonna be a single?

Interesting follow up I got from someone on the EDA mail list. Not sure where it originally came from
Atlantic recording artist Jewel has wrapped up work on her eagerly
awaited new album. Entitled "GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND," the studio set is slated for release on May 2nd. Produced by Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Goo Goo Dolls) and Jewel, this marks her first album in three years and her sixth since
making her recording debut in 1995.
For the first time in her career, Jewel has created a special sneak
preview for her fans - in the form of a uniquely personal, homemade video of
the title track, "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland." Jewel is making the clip
available exclusively via the Internet, beginning with its premiere on her fan
club website, www.jewelunedited.com, next Wednesday, January 25th. It can
then be seen on her main public site, www.jeweljk.com, beginning Monday,
January 30th, and will go wide on an array of online destinations on Monday, February 6th.
The captivating "Goodbye Alice In Wonderland" video was shot
spontaneously during a recent Jewel photo session with acclaimed Montana-based
photographer Kurt Markus. Filmed on Jewels Texas ranch, the homegrown clip
beautifully reflects both the songs organic, intimate sound and its powerfully
autobiographical story.
The first official single from "GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND" is
entitled "Again And Again." It is slated to impact mainstream radio outlets
across the country on February 27th.
An accomplished and world-renowned singer, songwriter, poet, and
painter, Jewel has continued to explore fresh musical avenues, branching out
from her folk roots to incorporate rock, pop, country, blues, jazz, and
classical influences into her work. 2005 marked the tenth anniversary of the
release of Jewels landmark debut album, "PIECES OF YOU."
"GOODBYE ALICE IN WONDERLAND" follows 2003s "0304," which debuted at
#2 on the Billboard 200 album chart, simultaneously becoming both the
highest-debuting and highest-charting album of her career to date,
while also marking her fourth album to hit the top ten on the national charts.
"0304" included the top five hit single "Intuition." To date, Jewel has sold
over 25 million albums worldwide, enjoying a career longevity rare among her
generation of artists.

MAY 2nd it comes out.
I can't wait to see what this album is like.
Im kinda disapointed about it being only 13 songs.
I like when she does 14 songs for us. Like on 0304. Pieces of you, Thisway

and spirit with it's bonus track - lol
since - this way had 2 bonus tracks that made the official 14 tracks
lordassmonkey
01-24-2006, 09:59 AM
Oh yeah I forgot alll about Spirit I don't know wherer my mind was..
Could u say Joy had 14 If u combined like From a distance with Life Uncommon from the medley lol.
michaelsjewel
01-24-2006, 09:40 PM
lol - close enough - it's like the length of 2 songs time wise - let's just consider it 14 tracks -
so so far - every jewel disc has had 14 (or say 13) songs with or without bonus tracks -
i wish jewel would skip the extra multimedia crap that i never use and put more music on a disc....what do you all have to say about that? lol
i'm guessing 13 songs - plus possibly bonus tracks on the new disc - though it could just be a multimedia section - or anti-piracy software from sony lols
kjm030584
01-24-2006, 09:55 PM
Yeah, I was a little dissappointed with it being only 13 tracks, but then again I was dissappointed with the previous ones having ONLY 14 tracks on them...
But it's like I always say.... quality over quantity.
I enjoy the multi-media stuff, and I really hope there's going to be something on this album. But it's not the most important thing.
lordassmonkey
01-24-2006, 10:45 PM
The multi-media stuff we alll watch like once. Me i am hoping there is some sort of exclusive video download or something fo rbuying the album that would be nice.
michaelsjewel
01-25-2006, 12:16 AM
yah - that's what i'm saying - have a software on it that links to a special downloading page for videos - or some other multimedia - but don't put it on the disc itself - that takes 2 much space on a cd that doesn't hold very much video in the first place - until DVD's become a music standard - they just won't fit much on them
lordassmonkey
01-25-2006, 12:12 PM
I honestly think its about time we get like a new dvd from Jewel.
This is her most autobigraphical album you would think she would include a DVD with like a story of each song and stuff like that and just how life has been on the road the last few years since like the relase of 0304 something.
WhatWouldJewelDo
01-25-2006, 11:25 PM
Well.... OBVIOUSLY, the only reason that they include "multimedia" bonus crap is so you would buy the CD to see it, and not download the CD illegaly
i really dont think its that big of a deal that theres 1 less song than you wanted.
but i am pissed that ive already heard 75% of the album a year before it was released, and only like 5 songs will be new material to me.
On Unedited it says that "Goodbye Alice in Wonderland" isnt going to be a single because its 6 minutes long, and Jewel herself thinks it doesnt have a shot at being on the radio..
plus... its not a radio single if you ask me.
i think we'll have to wait and see if this really is "her most personal record since POY"
most of the time record companies say crap like that so you will go out and buy it cuz you think its as good as POY.
michaelsjewel
01-25-2006, 11:45 PM
lol - u previewed the whole list except 5 songs? - um = what's the official tracklist anyhow - i've seen registered songs but there's way more than 13 -
as for POY - i think it sucked - so i hope it doesn't sound anything like it - lol ( i used to like POY until i grew up and knew better) -
that's pretty sad that u'd buy the cd for mutlimedia stuff - i buy it b/c i support artists - and if u ever look @ the back of the cd - sometimes u can tell where songs end and begin - multimedia section takes up approx. 3 songs or more - it's at the end of the disc - it's pathetic if u ask me - if alanis can fit 17 (or was it 18) songs on supposed former infatuation junkie - why can't jewel? lol
lordassmonkey
01-26-2006, 12:26 PM
because Jewel just does not like us that much lol. No its because shes to picky with her songs that has to be it lol

According to this site, Pieces Of UK (http://easyweb.easynet.co.uk/~cmgroves/Jewel/) the Album will be released in the UK on April 3rd, and US May 2nd.
Can anybody here confirm this UK release date?

The UK date is probably based on the old US release date... April 4... so it will probably be released in UK like May 1 now

hey dave,
for all you know, as soon as i started doing the countdown, i already ordered an advance copy from Warner Philippines/SouthEast Asia, which by the way had an information about the release of the album in the Philippines as in the same day as in the States- using an hopeful voice  ( I don't know if he only wants me to hope or he just answered me so i'll stop asking about the possible release of the album-cause I've been asking thousands times as the days in the countdown.) :umno:
