Firstly, if ive bored you all about James Blunt before, sorry
Secondly, sorry to Anette for stealing her thunder, just thought id start the ball rolling Netty x

Actually i realised i have wrote the lyrics and commented on them in another post, so as not to bore you, i did in fact find out who Dorian Grey was lol.

2005 ? the year of James Blunt. With the biggest selling album of the year, the third best-selling single with ?You?re Beautiful? and a coveted MTV Award for Best New Act, James has emerged as the UK?s brightest singer/songwriter talent.

My own personal favourite is Track 5 - Tears & Rain, while many of you would have heard You're Beautifull

If anyone if JKF hasn't had the pleasure of hearing this great album i really think you are missing out on songs that will move you. (thats of course assuming you want to be moved)

Please check it out.
Post your comments on what songs you like from this album if you can.

OMG... best selling album, you're kidding me, sure he might be able to write a decent song, but his voice sucks, it's lazy and rather cold and emotionless. :shudder:

There is no ball to start running dear Dave... Just me that loves some of his songs, mostly because his lyrics say too much about me and where I am at, and how I am. As you know you're beautiful and goodbye my lover is my songs.... even though they depress me these days *sigh*

Oh god, I can't stand "You're Beautiful". His voice sounds like a cat stuck in a car door.

My life is brilliant.

[pause]

My life is brilliant.

Thanks, we really cared.

Someone give me a rifle to shoot him. I personally can't stand his whiney voice and I feel the 'I'm Beautiful' is one of the stupidest songs ever. It is the greatest mismatch of lyrics that makes no sense if you know nothing about it's inspiration and carefully listen to the lyrics.

It pains me to hear it and High is no better. I haven't heard the album but I have heard majority of it. I didn't hear the particular song you mentioned Dave but I can't say I will either. It is just eardrum breaking.

But I don't judge those that do like him. That is just my opinion of him.

some of the comments are harsh, but its a free world and we all like different things.

personally i think someone who has sold as many albums as he has cannot have a voice 'like a cat stuck in a backdoor'

Well, looking at some other artists, I'm becoming very skeptical that success has anything to do with talent. If it did, Jewel would probably be the world leader.

That cracked me up.

He does kinda sound like that now that it's been said. I have been wracking my brain trying to describe his voice.
:P

I just love winding you up Dave.

On a serious note though, I know plenty of people that like him but clearly with James Blunt, it is a Love/Hate feeling towards him. You're either one or the other.

Like marmite (vegemite). You either love it or hate it.

That is true and we know it takes very little record sales to become number 1 nowadays.

Actually, to give James Blunt some credit (but not too much), I have heard his song Wisemen and it isn't bad.

Even though it was voted Worst Album at the NME awards???

Ya see, I come back to him being one of those Love/Hate artists. People love to hate him LOL!

Seriously though. It is a case of getting 100 people, 50 will say they love him and 50 will say they hate him. You won't find anyone on middle ground. I think he just has that affect on people.

I have to admit I really like his music now that the big "You're Beautiful" rush is all over (at least here in the US) I just don't like that song, although the version on the live album (Chasing Time- The Bedlam Sessions) is pretty good... anyways I love Wisemen and I love No Bravery... I wonder if No Bravery has something to do w/ the war in Iraq? At least that's what I think of when I hear it...

I happen to really like James Blunt. I didn't care for him all that much but then I saw him on Oprah and I sorta fell in love with him.... he seems so sweet and soft spoken and gentle... ahhh. Ha!

Anyway, I believe "No Bravery" was written when he was serving over in Kosovo... bad times over there.

The first time I heard 'You're Beautiful' I thought it was some new song by Rod Stewart. I remember thinking, man that's weird that he's still making music and they're ACTUALLY PLAYING IT on the radio!!! Then I found out it was this Blunt guy....

Maybe if I heard more of his songs I might like him.

But the subject of the song "You're Beautiful" is pretty lame. Some guy reminescing about some hot chick on the subway....and they "shared a moment"???? Get real, dude. That's a whole lotta emotional attachment to someone you saw for 2 seconds...not normal!! :-)

He actually wrote "you're beautiful" after he saw his ex-girlfriend on the subway for the first time after they broke up... and she was with another man. I'm kind of embarassed that I know so much about James Blunt and his songs.... I guess I got a bit obsessed after seeing him on Oprah. Wow! What is even MORE embarassing!

ItBeThatWay27
02-17-2007, 01:20 AM
don't be embarrased about that.

Chris you bought High as a ringtone? ha! I should start a ringtone thread cause I wanted to ask about Jewel ringtones. On the ringtone program or whatever that we have there's only 3 and they are Intuition, 2 Become 1, and Again & again... needless to say i didn't get any of them. BUT I did get Bigger than My Body by JM and it's my fav ringtone right now. Woot! (SORRY OFFTOPIC)

so what do you guys think of 1973? I don't get it. He can't be in a club in 1973. He would have had to be at least 18 in 1973 and he's only in his 30's so it's just not possible. I don't get it. Maybe I'm thinking to hard about it. But still it's not possible and doesn't make any sense.
