It was raised in another thread about who is gay here on the JKF. We seem to have a lot of gay members and so I thought the poll would be good to find out the ratio of sexualities here.
By the way, you can vote without posting so if you don't want to declare it openly, you could just make the vote on it's own if you wish.

It's a poll, it should be multiple choice. As in , you have more than 1 thing to choose from.
Bobby, you have this wonderful way of making me pull my severely confused look and think 'Did I miss something?'

Speaking of being gay. Well maybe this is kinda off topic but anyway. I woke up the other morning from a dream a great dream and it always pisses me off when you wake up at the wrong time. Ok so I was on the couch with my boyfriend I have no idea who he is but I know in this dream he's my boyfriend because we are cuddling and kissing blah blah and I woke up and it makes me sad. I'm going to be 21 on Friday and I've never had a boyfriend or been on a date in my life. All the men here in SOuth Dakota are whores. So this time I just said that it's a sign of goodthings to come. (sigh) :(

No I don't think so Gary, because anyone who at least knows some of Jewel's songs and a bit about her knows that she's an intelligent thinker. And well her fans are the same. What's not to love about anyone who's smart AND can think for themselves????

I'm not saying I care really, it's just annoying some times. I want to tell people to stfu a lot of the time. But most people really don't know much about Jewel so they just think oh he listens to lillith fair crap or something, and it's not even like that. Like we discussed in the other thread, I see her as like a spiritual icon sort of. And yeah not all of her music is spiritual in nature but it's just great writing and poetry, but I guess that sort of music really is dead in this day and age. SEX and MONEY are obviously taking over

Jewel has universal fans and that's another great thing about her music. She doesn't discount anyone for enjoying her art.
I tihnk people who judge you based on the music you listen to aren't worth knowing coz their clearly shallow.

Hi everyone,i am a straight married guy living in Glasgow,Scotland, and to be honest,i find that nearly everyone that i tell about Jewel have no idea who she is,so i try to suggest a couple of websites to check out,and some CD's to listen to,as i really feel i want to get them into the Jewel experience,i feel they are missing out.
Because Jewel is a sexy looking female,i find that my mates probably reckon i just like her because she's a babe,so they certainly don't think it's gay to like her.Obviously i like her for her amazing lyrics, poetry, her music in general, and her captivating performances, but i do think she's a babe into the bargain.
I have only found 2 other people in my area that i know of who are Jewel fans and they are both straight males in their mid-twenty's,so i don't find there is any particular gay opinion going on,but i must say that i can imagine that some people will have that attitude because a guy is into a female artist in a big way.
It's up to all Jewel fans to try to educate these kinds of people, and show them what she is all about,as once somebody has watched her perform a song live, like the Live at Humphrey's DVD,i defy them not to be hooked, she is irresistable.
So,whether you are gay or straight,or anything else for that matter,as long as you genuinely appreciate the whole Jewel vibe, who cares what the non-Jewel fans think,it's them who are missing out.
Cheers everyone !!!

that's awesome "but i do think she's a babe into the bargain" I love that ha ha yes she is. Matter of fact my wife was telling me how her boss @ work was showing her this picture on his computer of a girl w/ a big booty who was white (her boss is black) and he was like there's no white girls that look like that. So she is going to pull up my myspace page with the picture I made from the intuition video to show him Jewel's "thickness" ha!

I am big on not being part of the trendy "in-crowd" either, mainstream stuff makes me sick, hell I even make my own custom t-shirts, but anyway I had my ipod before the trend hit, I had a first generation ipod back when people would say "what is an ipod?" and when that broke I got a new one. It's one thing I will allow myself to fit in that crowd if I must, I couldn't live without it, it's so nice to have all my music with me all the time instead of toting around cd's everywhere and then worrying about them getting scratched ontop of that... ME LOVE IPOD:banana:

I hear ya! I love Alanis, Fiona, and the others to a degree, but the music seen has almost literally gone to hell. I had to block MTV on my TV because it just plain sucks. I was talking to a group of people at a New Years Party and they told me that I was stuck in the past, listening to Alternative rock from the 90s. !!!<3Nirvana<3!!! But I also like a lot of new stuff, I'm absolutely insane about Evanescence, Godsmack, Seether, Foo Fighters, Avenged Sevenfold, Flyleaf, Hinder, etc. I just think that my genre of choice is too different from what's 'popular' right now.

I know I really like the older stuff too. I think music has just gone to this weird extreme now. I have really just begun to get into Nirvana. For some reason I wasn't too into it back when they were popular, I guess cause I was like 11 or 12 and I honestly didnt really listen to music at all.. but I love Nirvana and old stuff from that time period like smashing pumpkins and green day and stone temple pilots, foo fighters, and all that stuff.

It must have something to do with the whole Lilith Fair thing. Everyone thought or assumed it was a big lesbian bash, but I think mostly it was about the strength of women. Not that I ever went to it, but that's what I gathered from the info I've heard about it. It's really no different than when they have OzzFest and it's a bunch of guys moshpitting, hitting, and punching each other in the mud, usually with their shirts off. No one thinks that's a gay guy thing.
Apparently the assumption is that if you're in touch with your feelings and introspective, you must be gay. Such prejudice....people are so ignorant and sterotypical it's annoying, isn't it?

I'm not saying it's wrong to be gay or a lesbian! I have nothing against that, I merely meant that I wouldn't practice it. It's nothihng personal. Ok ok...no more discussion needed. I've changed you're vote Jones!
Only admins can change poll votes. Please keep in mind that I haven't been on the forum since last night (before your last post) as I was out today so I'm sorry if this wasn't dealt with as fast as you would like.
All I've done is removed one vote for 'Other' and added 1 vote to 'Straight'. As far as I can tell, I can't change what you actually voted but I'm looking into it.
I'm not sure if it can be done but I'll do what I can. I have made this particular poll voter list private for the moment while I check. It is up to the poll starter whether the vote is made public or not. Seeing as I started the thread, it's my choice to change it to private.
Take care

Shawn (lordassmonkey) picked Other just so it didn't feel all left out up there with the other 2 choices. Ain't that sweet? Though our Shawny does like to be a bit different, don'cha know. He lives in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean...say no more.

We have a JKF Guest map where you stick a pin in where you live. Shawn thought the big ol' Atlantic Ocean looked a bit lonely, so he made it his home, followed shortly by his pal Nicole!
Click Here (http://www.jewelkilcherforum.com/showthread.php?t=547) to check out the JKF Map.

There is this video of an Ipod being blended on youtube it's quite funnny. I don't think I would own an I-pod I have this thing about having what everyone else has it kinda bugs me.. I like to be one-of-a-kind so to speak and me owning an ipod i'd be buying into a trend which is not my style.
The radio is garbage i only listen to the country station so i could hear Crazy Ex girlfriend by Miranda lambert
So you dont have an Ipod, but I wonder if you have a cell phone...
conformist! Nah im just kidding, but I would take my Ipod over my cell phone anyday. You can make the emergancey argument, but my Ipod is my life saver. I cant leave the house without it!
Oh right and im gay. Is that what this thread is about?

off topic but I agree iwth the ipod thing, no real need for it especially at that price. My cell phone has an mp3 player so I'm good for the most part.
so with regards to the topic...when did anyone here who is gay or bi come out of the closet?
I was out to everyone I knew at age 17 and I 'm 21 now. Looking back on it now I would not have "come Out" at all....it's kinda stupid. But society puts a stigmatism on anyone who is "different" and thus the fear of it all stems from that.

I told myself I was gay at 16. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I looked myself in the mirror and said Chris (last name) you are gay and there's nothing you can do about it. I didn't really come out to anyone until I was 17 then I told my friends. They were cool. I told mymom when I was 18 and in college after I joined a glbt group on campus. She said she always knew and that she loves me no matter what. Oh the tears that flowed that night haha. It was so dumb when I look back on it now. I agree with Jthisway I wouldn't have came out either. There's no need for it really.

I saw this show on MTV, "Real Life: I'm....." Not sure what the heck the actual title was but it was essentially a reality/documentary type of show where they filmed people from all different walks of life in different situations.
One of the episodes I remember, it was "I'm Coming Out". They filmed the entire process of 3 or 4 people, 2 guys and 2 girls. Of the 4, only 1 of the guys I believe had an experience that was actually positive. The family said they "already knew". In another situation for one of the guys, it was HORRIBLE. The guy finally got the courage to tell everyone in his family except for his dad. His dad was an extremely strict, conservative, by-the-book type of guy. Very intimidating. This poor kid had the hardest time trying to tell him, he couldn't get the words out. Eventually he just told his dad he was going to a gay club that night. The look on his dad's face was indescribable. He started arguing and asking why he wanted to go to a gay club. Then the dad just got up and stormed out of the room. They didn't speak until a couple days later after his dad cooled down. They still never really talk about it. It's so sad.

Summer heat....damn you. You're getting all the luck. We still have rain and struggle to get over 18 degrees but sure the friggin' wind manages to make it feel colder than that again. :humph:

Somebody ask Jewel if she's ever had a moment with another girl? Simple attraction or a kiss or "we won't go that far" Just curious if she'd be open with that kind of information... I've never been attracted to the opposite or shared a mutual moment, but I was working in a customers house a few years back and this guy grabbed my a__ when I was hanging the wall cases in the kitchen. I held my temper and politely asked him to back off... I don't judge others and I just look for the same respect...

ha ha no. I need to change it to bi. Is this possible, Kiera? Not that it REALLY matters, but for accuracy on my part, it'd be cool if it could be changed.

Although I've heard of a woman who is in love with a fence! There's a name for the condition but she genuinely believes that she is having a relationship with a fence.

Other can be anything really.
There can be people who trueley believe they are in love with Inanimate objects.
Then you can a guy be in love with a Tran-Sexual Woman who is still a guy and not be gay.
I mean there are many different explanations for Animals.

Or you can be a man without male parts but still male enough to be called a man and pregnant and on Oprah. The world is a strange place sometimes.

Wow – that’s quite a story to tell, Kyle. I honestly don’t know if anyone I know has been through that ordeal but after watching an intensive documentary of someone go through the entire process, it’s so tough and I commend anyone who goes through it. It’s so hard but hopefully they finally feel like they are in the right skin afterwards!

Yeah, it was tough... especially when talking about him instead of her or he instead of she. Finally gotten through that, he changed his image enough that it's hard to mess it up!

I prefer to say "heterosexual" cause "straight" sound too much "right wing", for me.
And I´m far from right wing/hand (don´t know the correct way to say it, sorry)
Take care

Wing is the correct term. I see where you're coming from. Whatever you prefer is fine.
Andrea - good to see you!
