Why am I getting popups here? I'm blocking them with FireFox, but this one ad keeps appearing. I *DON'T* have spyware on my computer because I use Linux. The ad is from ad.yieldmanager.com.

not from us. We pay to have ad blocking off. Doesn't come up on mine and I haven't had any complaints from anyone else. How long has this been happening?
Will check with InvisionFree to see if it is one of their advertising partners. No member should get ads (with the exception of Webring which we added) as we pay to remove them.
Will keep you posted. Otherwise, I recommend you run SpyBot or Ad-Aware on your PC to check for anything dodgy

Just came across this:
1. Download Programs
Please download these programs and save them in a new folder on your desktop -
CleanUp (http://www.geekstogo.com/modules.php?modid=5&action=show&id=49)
2. Run Hijack This
Run Hijack This and click on scan. The following items need to be fixed -
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8D08F325-36E3-3841-C556-3EA6FEAD6596} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\qajtgzw.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [s3ern8rr] C:\WINDOWS\system32\s3ern8rr.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mjmtuvep] C:\WINDOWS\mjmtuvep.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Dinst] C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Kxx] C:\WINDOWS\system32\??rss.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Redo] C:\Program Files\dbsu\shto.exe
Close all windows other than Hijack This. Check the boxes next to above items and click on Fix checked.
Restart the PC in Safe Mode (repeatedly tap the F8 key when the PC is starting up).
3. Delete Rogue files
Run CleanUp and delete all temp files including temporary internet files
Open Windows Explorer (right click on Start and then click on explore). Locate and delete the following folders and files -
Folders
C:\Program Files\dbsu
Files
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qajtgzw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\s3ern8rr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\mjmtuvep.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dinst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\??rss.exe
(make sure that you dont delete the file csrss.exe, a system and a critical file. If you have more than one instance of csrss.exe file, then make a note of all the files, their file sizes and the date of creation and let me know in your reply)
Clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to start> run> type into the box Prefetch. It will open the folder Prefetch. Delete all the files in that folder. Dont delete the folder, only the files in it !!!!!!!!
Reboot the PC in Normal Mode.
Please visit Panda and do an online scan. Save the scan report.
Run Hijack This and post a fresh HJT log along with Panda scan report.

It could be because of celebritywonder or webring who have put our link on there sites. I will try and email them to see if we can stop the pop ups and if they cannot i will remove the advert. As they have links to the forum it may be something we will have to try and deal with, but if its really causing you a problem or any other people please let me know and i will try and help.
My google is blocking the popups, but it is notifying me everytime.
Sorry,cant help much more atm.
Dave.

Like I said, I use Linux so I don't have spyware on my computer & I can't run AdAware & Spybot. The ad started showing up the other day. Since I'm using FireFox, I have an ad blocker which is now blocking that popup(I hope... it hasn't reappeared yet). The ad points to http://ad.yieldmanager.com/adoutput/adoutput.swf
I sincerely hope invisionfree does not condone such a thing(I surely don't), & that the company responsible for literally forcing this popup is reprimanded.

Are you saying I have no ability? I do this for a living you know. TUT!

It might have something to do with the webring thing. If it is, then we will do something about it!!!!
Are you sure it only happens on this site? Can you remember what day it started happening?

It was the webring advert at the bottom of our forum pages. Dave removed it. We had suspected it was the reason behind it. Thankfully it has resolved the problem!
Sorry it happened to begin with but we are really glad you brought it to our attention.
