you would think she would be happy to be putting out a new album.
"eventually drop out a litte bit more "
I don't think this kind off publicity is not good for her. I don't think it's fair on her fans either.

she isn't negative - more likely tired of people rushing her to put out an album - as far as i'm concerned - it's her life - and she can do whatever she wants and wait as long as she wants to release an album b/c she should control her life - not us controlling hers!

but i would say she's taken enough time off between last one and this one - she needs to have something good though for this album - so that way atlantic will resign her - or if she's luckier (b/c atlantic sucks) - then she'll have opportunities to sign up under another record label that does more for their artists

I don't think she is being negative either. Actually, I get the impression she doesn't really know what she wants.

I don't mind whatever she does, so long as it makes her happy. I think she loves music But seeing as it is taking her so long to put out this record, perhaps she is falling out of the love of 'making it'

I could be wrong. Just my take on things.

Good insightful interview though (your second link doesn't work).

Thanks for sharing!

I remember her saying in many other interviews that writing and performing live are her favorite things to do. But she does not like recording in the studio. And from what I've heard and read Atlantic is going down the crapper, so she'll have to get another label.

hmm, true lol, anyone name us more than 1 other music artist from that label without cheating and looking at the atlantic website ^_^

Again i have to agree with everyone else on this matter, on saying that i think that Jewel is in no way negative sounding in her words about her work and herself. She puts herself down yeah...but does'nt everybody, to make out there not perfect etc. Its just that coz she's in the midst of touring at the moment, with the people continueing there offensive jibbering & husseling about the new album and so forth, is prolly winding her down!?
I honestly think this long and lengthly gap between her last and soon to be released album is still a good thing, especially while she's touring as she can always add little perks and tweeks to certain new songs...i cant wait for it to come out, i know its gonna be a good album...for the meat has seen the light!!!(Hvis Lyset Tar Oss)

I don't think she means it to be negative, I think that she is just getting too pressured about putting out a new record.

I owuld say Jewel is just a bit wary and cautionary about revealing any info about her album, mainly because of possiblly how people will start to view and perceive the album without it being complete. We all remeber the "fiasco" of 0304 when she mentioned the words "dance, urban, and fun" to describe the feel of the album. THis time she may just be holding her tongue but at the same time giving tid bits of what to expect. Also, I think she's simply enjoying the process of taking her time wit this labum, so who knows maybe the stuff hse has planend for the album will change out of mere whim on her part...she is a fickle Gemini!

If Jewel starts to promote a new album too quickly, she may well go down the same road as other artists, and thats the expectation of it would be massive, and if its in the slightest bit crap' she will get slated for it.

I think Jewels doing the sensible thing in not marketing it up too much. That way, if our expectations arnt to high then when the album comes out most of us will buy it and like it.

Id rather wait for an album that has fewer quality songs than one with 20 below par ones next week.

...but thats only my opinion.

Dave.

ps, Jewel, if your intested i think you should make a new version of 'who will save your soul' - a trance version :-)
