Shockingly, there have been a series of explosions in the London Underground this morning.

2 confirmed deaths with a possible 20 more unconfirmed.

London is pretty much being evacuated around the area.

Please keep everyone there in your thoughts and prayers and hope that nothing more takes place.

Please post any new information you come across.

I believe there have been 6 explosions in all, 2 of which were buses, the rest were in the underground.

It has been confirmed that Al Qaeda have claimed responsibilty.

There are still a lot of stories so I will be sure to try and post confirmed information.

I haven't heard from Dave yet who is in London and I am getting very worried. I have also tried to phone him without success. I know he works away from where the blasts were but I have no way of knowing if he just happened to be in the area of the blasts for whatever reason. I am just very worried about him

Hey Kiera

Im ok, just had a day off work today and tommorow. Also been watching the news most of the day. Sorry i didnt know you had called me at work. I work in North London so fortunatly the blasts are a few miles away.

We have a lot of people however that commute from Central London too North London so i guess i will be told of anyone who we know caught up in it later.

It was only a few years ago we where right in the middle of the Hatfield train crash and now this. I just find it incredible that there are sicko fanatics in the world that know no other way to communicate for a cause. Its times like this that you appreciate things.

Terrorism can NOT been seen to win. It just isnt the answer.

Dave.

I am just so glad you're safe Dave. I suspected you were but seeing as we keep in daily contact and I hadn't heard from you, you can see why I was worried.

Well one thing is for damn sure, this has made you all stronger. The resilience of the London people and the footage I've seen from peoples phones during the immediate aftermath is a testament to the strength you all carry.

I suppose the unfortunate aspect to that strength is through the many experiences London has had in this situation in the past. I recall a lot of bombs during the 80's and even my own mother was victim to the loss of a bes friend during an IRA bomb in the 70's.

The work from the emergency services has been more than excellent, faultless and commendable.

I sincerely hope the perpetrators are brought to justice and that the current death toll does not increase. However, it is as a result of the wonderful work of the emergency services that more didn't die. What's more, London will not feel damaged by this. It is apparent already that people are remain strong and confident that terrorists will not win. And that is a wonderful quality to have in a nation.

the empowering thing you tend to re-discover after tragic events like this, is that instead of cowering in fear, in general people seem to draw closer, draw on their strength as a whole (nation, people...) and in the end the terrorists only succeed in drawing people together instead of sniveling in fear

But we must also remember not to judge muslims. Ken Livingstone himself said that these perpetrators do not follow the Muslim faith if they are acting in this way and Muslim people do not condone these actions.

Just as it was in the 80's, being Irish in London was a very dangerous time as Irish people were considered the enemy as a result of a minute percentage of dispicable minds hell bent on violence. Obviously not every Irish person was like that. With the exception of the IRA themselves, no Irish person would condone their actions.

SO I fear for the innocent Muslim people in London and Britain as a whole as they will now be targeted themselves by close minded people hell bent of some kind of revenge. And that just isn't right.

it's very sad that it's come to terrorism these days - it goes to show what some terrorists groups will do to defend the idea of their religion - i'd have to explain it to you later - but basically when they have told u their religion isn't evil - if u read some things in it u'd think otherwise - not saying all are evil - but if they'd get rid of a few phrases in that book maybe they wouldn't be so willing to kill themselves to make a point for their god - it's just sad -

right now i don't know if the fight against terrorism will win the way it's going...i understand that whole iraq thing has a good idea behind it - but it's creating more terrorism i think and goodness grief - it shouldn't have to come down to a KILL THEM ALL battle just to bring peace to the world - religion is stupid and i'm getting very sick of it destroying the innocent lives of this world!

this guy is full of baloney!!!!!! - just read their bible!!!!!!!!!

here's the deal i wasn't going to explain this tonite - but i think it's necessary .....

they say that muslim aka islam doesn't support the idea of suicide......
in fact - it doesn't - but there's loopholes in its own BIBLE - the koran

it states that if one is to kill themselves to honor that of doing good deeds to destorying the infadel (that of opposing religions), then the person who commits this is forgiven for commiting suicide and is given utmost respect in the afterlife from their god - allah - just because they supported attacking those of opposing religions - it does state in that book - any other religion is EVIL - i'll have to find that post later where i got the information - it's just pathetic..... until then - think about it

i originally believed that they were telling the truth that they don't support it - but now i don't know after reading it from their own bible, the koran..... as far as i'm concerned, it's one of their ways to simmer down the american people that way we don't BOMB THEM ALL - which is exactly what looks like needs to be done if they all have it in their sick minds to destroy everyone but themselves b/c it says so in their KORAN!!!!

and if they somehow aren't linked to islam- then how come it seems that most of if not all of these terrorists groups are originating from islamic culture or that of islamic peoples? is it really that coincidental? - as far as i'm concerned, i've lost all respect for that religion (not that i care for religion period b/c all it does is cause wars and hatred amonth people to a standard that doesn't even exist) - it's just plain sad that people believe that baloney!!!!!!!!

micheal, i only edited a few umm, colorful words, they are edited in my signature green color, your friendly mod...andrea

Yeah, i can see yer point michael...and yer right about that damn KORAN rubbish! its all just mindless insane babble, written by heretics!!!!!
This is the full text of the 'terrorists' statement....

"In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate, may peace be upon the cheerful one and undaunted fighter, Prophet Muhammad, God's peace be upon him.

Nation of Islam and Arab nation: Rejoice for it is time to take revenge against the British Zionist Crusader government in retaliation for the massacres Britain is committing in Iraq and Afghanistan. The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London. Britain is now burning with fear, terror and panic in its northern, southern, eastern, and western quarters.

We have repeatedly warned the British Government and people. We have fulfilled our promise and carried out our blessed military raid in Britain after our mujahideen exerted strenuous efforts over a long period of time to ensure the success of the raid.

We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all the Crusader governments that they will be punished in the same way if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. He who warns is excused.

God says: 'You who believe: If ye will aid (the cause of) Allah, He will aid you, and plant your feet firmly.' "

You know it really angers and makes my blood boil to hear "The heroic mujahideen have carried out a blessed raid in London" .....??? which Devine 'HOLY' god is going to call something like that 'HEROIC' and which devine 'HOLY' god is going to welcome the likes of them for eternal peace with open arms after killing hundreds of innocent people...and that also includes the poor innocent lives lost in 9/11 NYC...."burning with fear, terror and panic" you know...im sure each one of us know of a 'HOLY' power that praises the likes of that eh?
Them and there poxy Koran...they know where they can shove it!!!!
In the lands of where people like that come from, should be nothing but SCORCHED EARTH.Giving power and money to terrorists is like giving whiskey and car keys to thirteen year olds!!! a very poor show

 i could just spit, that makes me so annoyed, they have the gall to use GOD's name to justify their horrid actions, if they are going to say -god- condones, even ENCOURAGES this killing then let them atleast use the name of THEIR "GOD" ALLAH! that is such bull-o-neee, if i am wrong than show me, but as far as i know in the new testament we are not encouraged to massacre people in the Christ's name or any other "god's" name, and allah is not God, thank you very much
rrrrrrrrrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
at any rate there is this "Vengeance is mine, saith the Lord" so when it all is over they will get what they have coming, but it wont be some blood-thirsty smiling allah welcoming them with open arms! :gnash: :gnash: :bang: :tmbdn: :tmbdn:

umm, ya, i was a little ticked about that statement, so if i just offended anyone, umm, dont take it personally unless you were one of the bombers!

the muslim god allah is the same as the christian god. you probably shouldn't be so condemning of muslims just because a few of them fell off their rocker.

Yes we shouldn't generalise. Like I said before, when the IRA bombed London, they were a very small minority of Irish people. You couldn't blame all the Irish for that.
