Well it was a memorable day and from 2pm on Saturday 2nd July, I watched the Live 8 concerts that took place across the globe. It was great. I was doing a painting whilst having the TV on in the background. I don't know whether the music was inspiring but my painting evolved and I quite like it now.
Unfortunately Jewel did not perform at any of the shows :( which surprised me considering 'some' of the acts but we don't know the circumstances of why she wasn't there. Maybe she was asked and she couldn't do it. We just don't know yet.
Anyway, so who watched it? And who was your favourite performance?

That'll be no one then Kiera lol.
I must admit i did watch most of it, but the thing that always will get to me is that Bill Gates was there. Erm, excuse me if im wrong but IF one of the most powerfull and richest men in the world sorted out some loose change and gave it DIRECTLY to the starving and dying people in Africa wouldnt that do a little more than a PR stunt AGAIN for his own self purpose.
Maybe 20 years later governments will come to realise that if we try to help the first thing should be to give the money to the charities to distribute rather than the war mongers and dictators in places like Zimbabwe.
:read: ok rant over!!
...dont you just love getting stuff off your chest.

Oh, I must have missed that part. What a dink he is for even bothering. Don't be so miserly ya big nerd!! Do what Chris evans did, keep a few million for yourself then give the rest away. You don't need it and as they say, you can't take it with you when you go.
And it seems Pink Floyd sales have gone through the roof since, not that they ever really strayed too far away from the charts but it's good to see! IMHO
Disappointed with Madonna and Dido. Either they couldn't hear themselves or their voices weren't up to spec that day but I have hear much stronger performances from both.

I thought Robbie Williams was crap, we (my partner) and i went to see him at Knebworth last year and i can honestly say it was the best concert ive ever been to. Over 125 thousand people there on the Saturday, sun was HOT! and everything about the whole day was sooooo good. That day he sang with a lot more passion than he did on Saturday.
Im guessing as most of the people there dont like him or they have there own favourites you cant blame him. Anyway, at least he and the rest of them turned it into a worthwhile day....well, that we will find out soon.

Yes ubt I am sure you didn't fail to notice the very obvious scratching of his delicates for a good 2 and a half minutes right there on camera for millions to see.
I heard Knebworth was good. I saw Oasis there way back now but it was a memorable gig.

When i were a mere slip of a lad in the 80's there was a song called 'RADIO AFRICA' by Latin Quarter.
I really love this song and the lyrics are as meaningfull now as they were then. I would love to hear this re-recorded by Jason Mraz and Jewel. Jewel, please please :) pretty please.
anyway, its worth listening too, and right now as Africa is in the news more than ever with live8 etc, its only right that the polititians should get there heads out of the sand.
anyway, heres the lyrics....
Radio Africa
I'm hearing only bad news from Radio Africa.
I'm hearing only bad news from Radio Africa.
They've still got trouble with a monster in the South.
Heads buried deep in that lion's mouth
Like a jaw snapped shut, it keeps them apart
If that jaw got broke it would be a start.
The West still complains about the foreign aid
They'd do better to change the terms of trade.
More tanks than food in the Ogaden
It looks like Moscow got it wrong again.
Mozambique and Mugabe
Still got Frelimo I hear them say
But 'Exchange' means?
'Recession' means?
It all means 'Harder to take'.
Tanzania should be moving up a gear
Instead they've got to step on the brake.
Can't stop a movement that's come this far
But 'Lending' means?
'Interest' means?
'Harder to Fight'
Independence has a hidden expense
When the hands on the purse strings are white.
