A friend of mine told me about this and then Andrea said something to me the other day if I knew about it. So I went to do some research and found the link.
This is Google Earth (http://earth.google.com/)
Seriously!!! This is Totally cool. If you're one of the lucky ones to be living in one of the major sections covered in this then you may even get as close as seeing into your own back yard...from SPACE.
Try it. It's cool.

Aw Damn it! They stopped the downloads from the google site coz it's only in Beta.
But, I have found this link (http://www.desktop.google.com/download/earth/GoogleEarthPlus.exe) to where you can download it.
Enjoy

google earth is wicked cool, my friend has it and i got to see right in my own backyard...not that that is really a good thing, since it looks pretty redneck right now...but i think its really neat, and now another better reason to not tell people where you live :P
and you think your computer is bad...mine takes foooorever to load ANYTHING!
but well it does the basics so i shouldnt complain
:compbash:
I tried. I downloaded it and installed it but every time I try to run it it locks. It may be a security setting.

I recommend running an antispyware program on your PC just in case. They have a tendency to interfer with programs and make them hang.
You could use something like Ad-Aware (http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button) or Spybot S&D (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html).
Otherwise, it could be your firewall (assuming you have one) or antivirus causing the problem.

Most prolly the Firewall that causes the problem....
i think disabling your firewall is a cheap shot, coz instead of getting a backyard veiw of your house etc, your actually downloading your co-ords,giving them to the planet defense system and triggering off the Ion-lasercannon :P hahahaaaa!

I'm currently running Windows Server 2003 on this box and I'm learning it has many security features turned on by default.

im not exactly sure what you said, but it sounds suspicious-like, so watch out for any low flying black helicopters...they may be tracking you :ph43r:

maybe so but a third party program to check for spyware that could be on your pc is always good to have. But just a personal opinion. I'm a IT Technician so I get more paranoid about these things.
I hope you get it working. It is pretty cool

LOL. Thanks for that vote of confidence from Bagdhad Bob. I wondered what happened to him. He went to work for Microsoft. Hope that works out for him.
Hey, I had it sitting around and I needed an OS so I just decided to give it a try. So far so good. Except some of the drivers took a little work.

I was talking to a colleague today about this and he said that there is an even newer version than the one on the link I provide above. However, since Google have removed their download option, third party downloads are hard to get so early in this newer option.
Thing is, the latest version (not the one on the link I give) supports Windows Server 2003. Considering the link above is the slightly older version, it most likely doesn't support Server 2003 which is causing your problem. However, he did say there are ways to trick it but we didn't get that far into the conversation after an interuption.
Hope this sheds some light.
