Fellow Kilcherians

At last... an excellent professional review of our Jewellie Girl's poetry.
Check this out:

'The Melbourne Society of Contemporary Poetry' has rated (and awarded)
'A Night Without Armor' in the top five poetry books writen by young poets
under 21 years of age !!!

Quote:

"A Night Without Armor is an intricately crafted collection of honest expression and
spontaneous revelation.

"Jewel reveals herself as an accomplished free-verse poet, alternately witty and serious,
writing about true love, second thoughts and broken relationships.

"She paints unforgettable scenes in vivid imagery. In "Communion" she shows a deep
understanding of intimacy; her artistic descriptions capture environments in sensual
words that slip over the pages in beautiful streams of inspired imaginings."

"This is intuitive, soulful and meaningful poetry that impresses with its colorful use
of language, imagery and metaphor. Jewel's poetry is graceful, eloquent, insightful,
confessional, spiritual and above all, genuinely poetic.

"Jewel exudes a natural, glowing beauty, baring her emotions without shielding her feelings...
a daring and beautiful example of contemporary writing... brilliant."

Calm down Kiera. I think your review was very professional and looked very nice too. I seem to remember Justin giving you many praises about it. I would like to see you write some more pages. Hey, didn't I read you were easily offended in the personality profile thread? ;)

What I want to know is how come this is in a list of books by poets under 21? I thought Jewel was over 30. Did I just miss a decade?

I was kidding. If anything I am NOT easily offended. It takes a lot to really get on my wick. Anyway...She wrote most of the poems throughout adolescence and her late teens. I don't think too much of it was written above the age of 21 but certainly some of it.

Yeah...

Sure... there's no such thing as the
The Melbourne Society of Contemporary Poetry.

But... those quotes were REAL !!!

I got them from amazon.com... in the reviews section...
(then I improvized here and there). ;)

Yeah... have a look. Sure, A Night Without Armor'
got heaps of sh!t poured on it... but... there are also
heaps of great reviews !!! :)

When I used the word 'professional'... I meant it literally.
I once spent hours searching for a positive review (from
a poetry society) and never found one. That's when I bumped
into that self-righteous 'Rambles' review.

Well thanks a bunch you ungrateful arsehole... I'll remember that! (KIERA)
There are two main things I fear in life... they are...
an out of control bushfire and... an equally out of control Kiera.
(insert 'trembling smiley' here)

So, without further ado, I'll patheticly suck up and shamelessly
promote the most popular page on the (sadly abandoned) ASPCJ website.

The one and only Kiera Bird's famous... 'F*ck You Rambles' page:

...Have'nt actually read " A night without armor" myself as of yet,but as iv seen...errr here (thanx to Intrepid Prez) and else where nout but good reveiws.

Of course theres always gonna be heaps of sh!t on that sort of thing!
Maybe they are'nt the sort of people that received the typical "psychoanalytic treatment" most poetry gives eh!??? lol
poetry is often understood to be about little other than courtly love and romantic excess most the time, but not in Jewels case!
Intrepid Prez enjoyed it sooooo much i guess...he now serenades the baby elves to sleep with his violin after a long day of teaching them how to search for gnome food... :P (in jest m8) ;)
