Jewel to make Grand Ole Opry debut!

Jewel will make her Grand Ole Opry debut this coming Saturday, April 12th. If you are totally unaware of country music history, every single major country artist has played the opry. She'll be singing "Stronger Woman" and probably another song or two. GAC will air the show at 8pm EST, 7 central. It will also repeat Sunday and througout the week.

This is great news and Joe Nichols is on the same night so the crowd should be a good one. Now we just need to patienly wait for them to invite her to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. Jewel has to be so excited to be singing there this weekend.

I'm slightly surprised to learn that she hasn't already played the Opry, despite not having been a traditional country artist, but this must be very exciting for her, so sweet! :cheerleader:

I turned the Opry on to late to see Jewel's first performance but just in time to watch
her sing "You were meant for me" and I know you'll be mad but I didn't like the way she sang it at all. I don't like it when she uses her baby voice and she used it alot. I have heard her sing the song so much better. Who heard the first song? was Stronger Women and was she good? I am sure everyone else like the way she sang You were meant for me and I am glad you did. OK Her performance of Stronger Women was on you tube already so I was able to watch it, not
giving my opinion until I hear yours.

i watched it and yes, she did sing stronger woman first. in my opinion, it was WAY better than the performance at that pbr rodeo awhile back. her voice wasn't so shaky and she just seemed happier and healthier looking than before. i understand what you mean about the baby voice on YWMFM, but its not something that personally bugs me. but she definitely was using it a lot. aside from the performance though, i thought she really looked great! overall, i think this was really good exposure for her into the country world. :)

Lars, they only aired Stronger Woman & YWMFM. I think there were 2 shows that night, only one being televised. We also don't know if they broadcast the entire show or just select songs.
