I hope this means the label is giving Jewel some proper attention. Getting her was, in my opinion, a big coup for a fledgling organization, and I hope they help build Jewel's relationships with country radio and nurture this CD rather than abandoning it after the first single. I also hope they do better at selecting singles--I think it's a positive thing that they went with Stronger Woman instead of I Do, which Jewel seemed to prefer initially--that song was 100% cheese, and it's clear from her history that Jewel can't always be trusted to make good single choices on her own.

Yeah--we used to discuss this a lot on the Street Team forums (what ever happened to those anyway?), particularly with respect to the This Way and 0304 single choices. I can't remember all the details we discussed, but I think the most universally reviled single choices that Jewel either said she had or was rumored to have made on her own were Break Me, This Way, and 2 Become 1. Not a criticism of the songs, mind you (for instance, as standalone songs, I loved Break Me and hated This Way and 2 Become 1), but a criticism of their radio playability given the musical environment at the time. I think I remember many people thinking New Wild West and Do You Want To Play from This Way and perhaps also America from 0304 should have been released (at least that's what I thought :)).
hmm..."this way" was a success or not? it was the soundtrack of a movie with angelina jolie (I saw it this summer)...I can't but not say this: to me every single song from this way should have been a single! it really was a great album...:)

Well, I think Jewel wanted Break Me and it was a BAD decision. This Way wasn't the best also, cause it's just a plain not good enough song. But Atlantic has never been a very bold company, so IMO, that's what hurt Jewel's single releases. After the smash that was Standing Still, had they gone with Til We Run Out Of Road, Jewel would have had a monster crossover hit, both at Hot AC and Country, with Pop coming later, but Atlantic was a chicken...
Anyway, they should have AT LEAST released a radio version of Serve The Ego as 4th single, so people would see can experiment very well with other sounds...

Wow she looks great, really happy and healthy.
Totally in agreement re: Jewels single choices though. Never liked Break Me as a single and I hated the radio edit of Jupiter.

I totally agree with you :friends: the story of Jewel could've change a lot if Atlantic have done more than videos but this a new story and we can't change the past so Jewel hurry up with Perfectly Clear:acoustic::lovejkf:
