Jewel Gets Back in the Saddle
Published: 2005-05-24
After some time flying under the radar, long-time singer-songwriter Jewel will hit the road on June 15th for a full-fledged tour of the North America. The American songstress released her last album, 0305, two years ago.
With just one Canadian stop in Toronto on July 27th, the summer jaunt wraps up in Cleveland three days later. The 20-date tour probably comes in anticipation of a new Jewel album, but there?s not too much information floating around out there. Jewel?s website says she?s been in the recording studio since early this year, which means we?ll wait at least a few months more before a new album hits store shelves.
According to a Billboard.com interview from March 2004, Jewel plans to get back to her folk roots for her next album. Her 0305 album shocked many fans and critics with an electronic, poppy sound and a new image for the performer that came with it. In the interview, Jewel said the album?s follow-up will be ?a really simple, kind of lo-fi record.?
For more information on Jewel?s upcoming record and a full list of tour dates, go to her website, www.jeweljk.com. Canadian fans can catch Jewel in Toronto on July 27th at Roy Thompson Hall; tickets for the show go on sale June 3rd.
