Stronger Woman now on iTunes!

Make sure you buy the single. Purchases off iTunes really pushes the single on the charts. It's not under new releases but it is under What's Hot. It's the single version which is great cause we'll get the album version when the album comes out. I don't mind waiting a few month for the word "horny" anyway. :) So let's support our girl!

OK...here's my issue with the recording of the single. Why didn't she sing in her wide-range soulful vocals like she did on the Nashville Star recording of "Anybody But You"? That would've been perfect! Instead she sang in her monotonal thin "baby" voice like she used on TW & GBAIW. I was hoping that for this new upcoming album she'd be using her vocals to the best of her ability again. The baby voice is fine, but not when it's used for the whole song. Not a good move.

Check the clips of Perfectly Clear and especially I Do on jeweljk.com. She uses a full range of vocals on both of those songs. The whole cd won't be that way its just one song.

I've always hated the baby voice. I think she uses that voice to try to emulate the great singers from back in the day--like Ella and Nina--who used to use that kind of voice to imply coyness and flirtation, but it doesn't really work with Jewel's kind of music. I mean, say what you will about the song, but the lyrics of "Stronger Woman" or--in my opinion the worst example of this--"Fragile Heart" (gag) do not lend themselves to these cerebral interpretations. They're fluffy lyrics, and need better vocal performances to sustain them, in my opinion.

I think she kind of used it for 'Again & Again'....but really can't recall any other song she breaks out the "baby voice" on from that album.

Yeah, Again and Again could have a been a much stronger song had Jewel sung it with her full voice IMO.
