These were all visible yesterday. I think my posts overloaded the account. I'll keep an eye on this thread. Angelfire posted photos usually come back up after a little while. If they don't I'll upload them someplace else later today.

Oh they're gone again.
Mike...glad a lesson has been learned. What a pain in the ass though. Use Photobucket instead. Never lets ya down.
I've been using photobucket for all photos I post, but this is just a site I browsed into and posted links to directly. I have a confession - it's not actually my account.
I'll fix it tomorrow. Sorry I will edit my original post to fix the problem. I'll try to post a few more make up for the pain. :)

Yeah, angelfire has discontinued the ability to direct link, that's why that angelfire image appears instead. It sucked, because until about a year ago, that's where I kept most of my images. :( Thanks for posting the pictures though. ^_^
I finally fixed the problem by moving them all to my photobucket account. Sorry for the problem. Hey there's soemthing weird about photo 4 and 5. Maybe it's the camera angle, but something sure looks different between those two photos.

I agree that that photo is only mildly amusing, and that there are plenty of better examples of bad hairdos. I always read Justin's comments with the idea that he is probably kidding or at the very least exaggerating. :P
If you've got better (By better I of course mean worse) photos please post them so I can add them to my collection. ;)

=/ I like her hair in this pic http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/jew...r/jewelK084.jpg (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v670/jewelkilcher/jewelK084.jpg) I like it a lot better than the hair style she has at present.

yah...interesting enough with her new hair...it was ok in the image i have on my site, background 19....go to http://www.michaelsjewel.com/downloadbackgrounds.html and you'll see that it can be beautiful is she actually gets the sides to curl out, but um...otherwise, i really despise that she cut her hair...what was she thinking going for that look...i personally think it makes her look really old and not so beautiful i guess it looks alright on that background though. i think ...what's her name.....well...a famous model for victoria secrets, i forgot the name, but she played in disney channel movie.....LIFE SIZE....is that perhaps tyra banks, anyways, it's somewhat ok on her, but i think the look just isn't really that sexy.
i think the pic of jewel there that u are describing is actually one of her better hair moments, in that it's messy, but very scrumptuous!
Holy Hairstyles. You've got 74 backgrounds! And they say Justin has too much time on his hands. You must work on your website 24/7. :o
michaelsjewel
02-18-2005, 05:08 PM
um...those are the old 800x600 resolution backgrounds, if i were u.....pick them up as fast as u can as they will be deleted eventually to make way for more space for the media...... the wallpapers though, i have 19, which are more .....hard to create - spent lots more time on them - and they are 1400x1050 resolution...making them high quality.... and no, i don't spend 24/7 on the site, it feels like it if i update a new site design in one day though.... the 74 backgrounds were created over 2 year or more span i think...not sure....but they take time...i've been working on the 19 wallpaper collection for....ever since feb. of last year i believe
Thanks for the info. I'll download some. I save almost every Jewel photo I see in My Photos directory. My goal is to some day make a DVD slideshow out of the everything. The good, the bad, and the ugly. There's many more good than the others, but the bad ones just hold a special place in my collection. It might take me years though.

Jewel, in late 2002, when asked if she would ever make a pop/dance album, gave the interviewer a quizzical, "you're insane" look, and replied that she would never sell out in such a dispicable, self-deprecating fashion.
But later in the interview she mentioned she was desperate for cold-hard cash and muttered something about pop stars getting all the record sales.

i resent that quote...since that pic was obviously after 0304 was released.... see what's she's wearing and her hair style..... whoops...did i ruin your moment of resentment? ohhh.... the killjoy...a typical michaelsjewel fashion, (telling the truth like it is - to bash those Such jewel fans that are too much into denial for any truth) or just plain truth.... she never sold out, she's always wanted to do a pop album, and even in reviews, they said she obviously wasn't going for record sales as pop isn't mainstream as she released it.... i think it was her THINKING TO A QUESTION SHE HAD NO ANSWER FOR....like....
"ever thought of going back to Pieces of You material to sell more like you did before"
Jewel thinks.....really hard
and replies....
"you know what, the truth is, then i'd be selling out in the fact that i'd be doing what they want me to do just so i can sell records.... besides, that was written while i was young and stupid - try any of the other albums for more of what i am now - i mean, i recorded an album after POY, but resented releasing it because it just wasn't me anymore, so i waited to release spirit"
and michaelsjewel would like to congratulate jewel for a wise decision as her career would've been over then and there...especially if you would've saw the songs on it!

The work of fantasy artists like Luis Royo, HR Giger and Boris Vallejo are
actually held in very high esteem. Fantasy and airbrush artists are as much
an integral part of contemporary art as any other artists or art forms.
Jewel, with her own art form: 'A Night Without Armor' has no problems at all
writing about her breast... she almost delights in it.
And that grammy dress... well, nuff said !!!
Sure... I included that pic knowing full well it wouldn't last five minutes...
but let's not become too self righteous here. Jewel exploits her sexuality
as much as any other modern singer.
A while back, my final project in a college multimedia course was covering
the life and artwork of Luis Royo. Neither teachers, administrators or
fellow students considered the project as inappropriate. Thoughout history
womens breast in artwork have never been considered inappropriate, it's only
in recent times that: Breasts = Pornography.
The bottom line is... Royo's, Giger's and Vallejo's work will be displayed in
galleries around the world for just about forever... genuine masters and
innovators of that paricular style of art.
And what'll become of those infamous slutty Blender pics ??? Well again... nuff said.

Jewel will flaunt her sexuality all she likes. Even if she posed naked for playboy, i still wouldn't allow those pics to be posted here.
Bad taste Justin.
Hey, I guess I can see Justin's point here. I don't feel real strongly that it's something that should be posted in a forum, but I don't really consider the image pornographic. I guess I prefer to think of Jewel as a talented performed and writer rather than think of her naked. There is no denying she is a beautiful woman. I've got no problem with nudity, but in general it needs to be in places where kids don't generally go. I'm not even going to mention the King of Pop here. ;)
Justin, I guess I was not real aware of the background behind the image or why it was posted here except to share. I say thanks for sharing it, but if Kiera wants to set the standards for her forums that's her call. You've got the picture on your site and that's fine too. I don't think that that pic was real tasteless Kiera -it's actually quite artistic. I think you object to it being Jewel more than the fact that it's nude. Nudes are an ancient artform that does not need to be taken in a sexual way. I think it has a place in the world of art.
As far as the Blender photos personally I consider them quite taseless. I've never been real attracted to prostitute fashion. Women dressing like prostitutes might do it for some men, but it doesn't do anything for me. I think you said once that Jewel wears allot of clothes you don't like. I agree, but she's still one heck of a singer. Clothes don't really matter for much. :lovejkf:

Bad taste Justin.
You can hunt though the works of all the popular fantasy artists and you'll
never have the misfortune to bump into anything in such BAD TASTE as...
a woman in fishnet stockings with her legs spread wide across the back of a chair.
There ain't too much classy or tasteful about this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v717/jewelfan33/blender20.jpg
Royo's, Giger's and Vallejo's work will never mirror this trash.
(and we're talking about the image's intended message here... not Jewel)
This image should be delete from a public forum because it is genuinely
tasteless and could be considered offensive to some people.
But nope, her tits are covered... (although rather barely) so it's quite OK.
TV viewers watched tsunami victims drowned before their very eyes, reality TV
features cops gunning down real robbers... the 6pm news constantly show the
dismembered limbs of terrorist's victims until we actually become desensitised
to the carnage !!!
But when Janet's wardrobe malfunctions... well, all Hell breaks loose.
It's odd how today's society thinks... isn't it?
Thank God for fantasy artists (and writers), cos sometimes they dream up
enchanting places for us to temporarily escape this insanity, which sadly is reality.

Hey, I don't edit them. I just find them and share them. Personally I've never understood the fascination with breasts. Explain to me again why bigger breast is better. What difference does it make how big they are? And why does it make them better to wear a bra that pushes them up under your chin?
I think I am not so much showing Jewel's breasts in those photos as much as I am showing off some strange fashion choices. I've never actually liked women to dress like cheap tramps. Kiera: I think I have heard you express that you don't exactly agree with Jewel's taste in clothing. That's where I stand.
I like Jewel for the way she sings. If she had almost no breasts at all I would still like the way she sings. I can still be a fan and have a little fun jabbing at her clothes.

Maybe someone should open a "Jewel's Breasts" thread, since it's apparent that's (again) going to be a major topic of discussion. Though I have a feeling that, like "Jewel's Eyes", it would just wind up another "I Hate 0304!" thread. And I'm sure it's not just the men who are admiring Jewel's boobs. There's plenty of women who are just as fascinated by them (including Jewel it seems), lol.

I was thinking the same thing. Like I always say, Jewel needs to tounge kiss Madonna or Britney if she wants to get some publicity.
I did my best to stir up controversy, but it's just not working. I suspect my latest attempt at http://www.geocities.com/jewel_australia/JewelGarbage.htm just left Kilcherians scratching their heads. I am proud to say that it now ranks #1 on Google if you search for "Jewel's Trash" and "Jewel Trashy", but only ranks #3 for "Trashy Jewel" or "Jewel Trash." It also ranks #1 for "Jewel's garbage" and "Jewel's Power Plant." She should hire me as a publicist. ;) :P :o

Just a little trash talkin'. ;)
Ok, enough of that stuff. Back to hardline photo sharing. Here's a rare photo I just unearthed in my daily browsing, just be warned this is a hi res slow loading image:

Singer-songwriter Jewel sings her hit "You Were Meant for Me" aboard the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Mediterranean. Jewel was one of the celebrities and entertainers who took part in Defense Secretary William S. Cohen's fourth and final holiday tour Dec. 16, 2000. Photo by Linda D. Kozaryn.
I think Jewel's really cute in this photo.
Here's part 2. Her "date".

Ty Murray, the champion dubbed "King of the Cowboys" in rodeo circles, waits backstage at Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo. Murray accompanied singer Jewel on Defense Secretary William S. Cohen's fourth and final holiday USO tour Dec. 16-20 and was warmly received by American GIs throughout. The show company performed Dec. 18 for 500 service members on duty at Bondsteel. Photo by Linda D. Kozaryn.
:D
PS sorry about the size of these. I left them on the original source site. I didn't know that second one was so wide.
A little research poped up this. It's Jewel's Christmas message from 2000.
Jewel's 2000 Christmas Message To Her Fans
December 24th, 2000
Happy Holidays! I'm glad to report I am finally adjusting to a warm and sunny Christmas. In fact, I downright love it. I just returned from Germany, Bosnia and Kosovo where I managed to get my fill of the icy blustery winter thing.
Yes, I did just casually mention Kosovo and Bosnia. Pretty cool, huh? I was entertaining the troops for the holidays for the USO. I flew from D.C. in an E-4 (an E-4 is a HUGE military aircraft which is the flying headquarters in case of war with several sports figures and entertainers and Medal of Honor Recipients. John Glenn, Carole King, Terry Bradshaw and Michael Singletary just to name a few.
We each did a short bit. Oh yeah, the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders were there too, in short shorts galore! It was great, though it probably just tortured the poor soldiers as much as it entertained them. The show lasted about 2 hours. We even did a show on a naval aircraft carrier. We were flown in a C-17 from Munich to Naples, then helicoptered out to the carrier. It was amazing. And as you can imagine, it was rewarding to sing for the troops. Nothing like a starved and captive audience in remote regions! Talk about appreciative. It was very fun and fulfilling. The troops really serve out of a genuine sense of honor and duty that is easy to lose touch with in our daily lives. It was very touching. And they are so young.
It is heartening to see how many ways there are to serve our lives, world, country and humanity. Often I think of how proud I am of all of you for giving thought to the philosophy of giving throughout the year, and not just once around the holidays. But how great it is at the holidays! I hope yours are merry and bright.
Love,
Jewel
Yep, she's right those are short shorts alright. I'm sure like me if Ty looked at them it's only to be polite. ;)

Merry Christmas!

Yea, good point KJM. I like how she lifts her leg when she sings. It's like it's for emphasis.
There's some more photos from these same shows that I assume were posted by soldiers that were there here More Bosnia Photos (http://groups.msn.com/picsfromBosniaiHerzogovina/jewelandothersvisitbosnia.msnw). I won't post them all becasue there are too many and they are not as good as the ones I already posted.

Over something that important, maybe we should take a poll. :P
Or not. Besides - Jewel is an Angel and everybody knows Angels don't pee. ;)
Here's the rest of those photos, Kiera. I remember them saying they were taken in Ireland. They were posted on Jewel's official website in August of 2003.

Oh really? She was here in 2003? Well she didn't bloody play a frigging concert  :gnash:
Well they are lovely pictures. Problem is, I don't recognise where they could be. I am guessing the countryside and not Dublin as it is a bit 'too' country for the Dublin outskirts. And there are tonnes of places just like that in Ireland so it really could be anywhere.
Thanks for the photos Mike. I personally feel warm just knowing she was here.

She wasn't there in 2003, that I know of. If I remember correctly, these pictures were taken during the This Way tour and I don't think she was in Ireland. For some reason I'm thinking England, but I could be wrong. They're nice pictures regardless. :)
Anyway, here's a picture. It's not a life picture of Jewel, but it is a drawing of herself that she drew. I scanned it myself from the Bits & Baubles CD.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Angel_Eyes1984/Jewel/bitsandbaubles.jpg
In case you can't read it, it says:
And here we have Jewel and Moby next on their way down Camera Row for the James Bond premiere. Moby, Of course, did the catchy Bond theme music. Jewel is wearing a lovely gown knitted of midnight stars, with, oh! Such a clever accent of what I believe are gold fish in her hair. And Moby is sporting a terrificly fresh idea - a scottish kilt! He definitely outshines Pierce Brosnan tonight, ladies and gentlemen. Just look at those sexy knees. What an amazing shade of white his calves are! A terrific couple - And next we have coming down
OMG! She thinks Moby's knees are sexy! :o :omg:

Tracy may be right, but I always thought they were taken in Ireland. I just stored them in a directory of when they were posted on www.jeweljk.com. They could have been taken a couple of years earlier. If anybody knows anything more about them I would like to know also.

In the new Wynn Resort and Casino in Las Vegas that just opened up last week there is a store called "Bags, Belts, and Baubles." When I saw the sign of this place I thought of Jewel's CD that you mentioned. Baubles is just not a really common word. The stores in this hotel are mostly aimed at the extremely wealthy. I beleive that Jewel will be appearing in a private event to promote Jewelry (There's another thread about this in this forum.) Don't feel so bad Kiera. Jewel's coming to Las Vegas, but I'm not wealthy enough to attend the event.
And Tracy thanks for posting the artwork. I've been collecting scans of Jewel's art for some time. Art, photos, drawings...It's all good. :D

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know the difference between MB and MiB along with GB and GiB? I know most of you probably consider this to be off topic, but for me it's on topic.

To be honest, they are just alternative abbreviations to the same thing. MiB is an abbreviation of Megabyte and GiB is an abbreviation to Gigabyte. They are often used when describing file sizes on a Linux system or Apple systems.
There is a such thing as a .mib file but it would be too complicated and unrelated to the issue to even go into. And besides, i don't know a whole lot about .mib files.
It looks to me like the pic you were trying to link to, didn't have a file extension on it, eg .jpg or .gif
In order for the [IMG] tag to work, you need a file extension at the end of the URL. Also, the size of your image is quite large (over 7MB which is massive) so I would say that will cause problems too.
Hope that helps.
