OK, i've always wondered why the lyrics printed in the booklet thingy don't match up with the lyrics Jewel sings...it's like an entire line is left out (another burger another hot dog...) anyone know why?

There are a couple of versions out there and I think there may have been a mix up with the version she recorded for the album against the lyrics that were submitted for the booklet.

Jewel had to remove verses from it before she recorded it as she had too many. Every so often, the odd old lyric pops in from one of the dropped verses. I like it because you can never fully tell what lyrics she'll go with when she sings the song.

I think i know the answer to this.

When Jewel first sang about Hotdogs & Fries she was dieting and maccy d's was on her mind all the time. During her diet Jewel went to a Psycologist who advised her to cut out all things that reminded her of maccy d's

Thus, the lyrics were changed to "Another doctor's bill, a lawyer's bill
Another cute cheap thrill"

Yeah...I've noticed that too. On the studio recording she replaces the "hotdog/fries" line with "she says hold my calls" line. But when she sings the song live she includes both lines. There's alternate lyrics with some of her other songs too, like on a live recording of "Deep Water" I have some of the lyrics are different. And a lot of the lyrics of "Satellite" on GBAIW are changed from the original acoustic one she sang live. I honestly think that Jewel often can't keep track of her own lyrics, which is easy to do since she's written so many songs.

She actually switches around lyrics and changes them quite a bit. I like the unpredictability of it when she sings live songs that I haven't heard before. I love trying to guess which lyrics she'll go with this time.

I totally agree with Little Bird .. I think it is very cool that you're never sure of what she's gonna sing. Even if you know every Jewel song by heart it will always be a surprise how they will be performed both lyrically as musically for it changes, just as life, right?

i love her spontaneity. it makes her more real in some way, however its damn frustrating to sing along to sometimes- good job i don't care and warble along anyway. ;)

I like Jewel' s song, but I don't know how to sing it along with her songs coz' theres a lot of adlib around it. One thing, I could not catch up her unpredictability everytime I watch her sing her songs. I would rather listen to every word and the sound of her voice. She amazes me everytime she sings it with different style and alter a lil bit of the tune everytime. Jewel is not boring.
