I am a great fan of car personal registration plates,i love trying to make names and interesting words for them and then checking if they would be available to buy from the D.V.L.A.
Recently i enquired about this registration number : J3WEL but unfortunately it was already sold,and it went for £3600 at a D.V.L.A registration plate auction,bummer !!!
I also checked for J6WEL,and several other related plates but they were also all sold,pity. I wonder if it's a UK Jewel fan that owns the J3WEL plate,or perhaps a rich London Jeweler.
I have had a couple of private plates in the past,but around 5 years ago i managed to buy my perfect registration number : C124WFY.
My full first name is CRAWFORD,but family and friends have always called me CRAWFY,so i worked out the letters and numbers to make my name up,i really like it.

Does any other members of the JKF have an interesting car registration number,if so,i would love to hear about them.
I know lots of people are not into private plates,but they are very popular these days.
I wish i lived in the U.S as i think they are allowed to make up any name or word they want over there,as i saw some brilliant ones on my Florida trip last year,could any of the U.S members confirm this please.

Liitle Bird could have : K13RAS on her Almera !

I look forward to hearing about your plates,

Cheers,Crawfy !!!

My buddy had a palte for his Camaro and it read: GONE

Very simple, very neat, and described his wheels very well. Another guy in a green Chevelle had a tag that read: BCNUALL

How original!

Yes, the U.S. drivers or motorists can make it up to a certain degree, no profanity or anything like that, no derogatory words or things. Like, in the film 'Con-Air' the licence plate read AZZKCKR. You wouldn't be allowed to do that here.

I think I should get one that reads PR1NCE, since I'm such a fan of the pmusical artist known as Prince. That would be comical, and my brother might try to steal it off of the car, I'd bet.

That would be really cool although they don't do that here sadly. Our number plates are relatively straightforward but also mostly numbers (bar 2 characters). It is 'against the law' to have customised plate but you see some out there with very 'coincidenatal' plates on their cars.

How it works here is, let's say I bought the 99,000th car in Dublin this year. The reg would be 07 D 99000
07 = the year
D = Dublin
99000 = 99000th car registered in Dublin

Or if I bought the 12345 car in Wicklow in 2005 it would read, 05 WW 12345

You'll see some fancy Porsche 911 drivers out there with a reg of 07 D 911 and you just know they 'paid' to get that reg plate. Bit of a backhander brown envelope thing.

I'd love to see something like that happen here though. I'd be straight in there to get J3wel!

I know Dave has a personal plate with JK in it!

I took a pic especially for you

Actually, for those people that dont know the real reason i have JK on my private plate it is the initials of my children. I also have a JK tatoo. The D13 stands for David and 13 is my birthdate and as well my lucky number.

Its just strange that i started liking Jewel Kilcher and that my childrens names had the same initials.

The great thing about the plate is that whatever car i have in the future it will always have D13 JKW on.

An Audi! Pretty nice car for an IT guy. Nice wheels, what is that, a 2001 model? Maybe 2000? Not sure off hand, prefer BMW's myself.

Very nice wheels, and clean, too.
