I know people see this discussion as being over, but I think it's important to see how many people do or don't like going off topic. This is just a simple poll, so if you want to explain your answer further, then go HERE (http://s3.invisionfree.com/Jewel_Kilcher_Forum/index.php?showtopic=166).

And just to note, I'm not going to be the first person to vote.

Count me as a definate:

'No, it takes away from the original topic'.

Strict 'On Topic' rules must be enforced...

Otherwise members will lose the plot and this forum
will eventually become no more than a venue for
unscruplous promotion of totally unrelated sites...

The mods've gotta nip this in the bud immediately !!!

I have a mixed opinion here...it's OK to go off-topic a little bit, but it does take away from the original topic. What's the harm in making a new topic about the off-topic? But maybe a person justs wants to make one comment about that off-topic and not make a big deal out of it by starting another thread about the off-topic. I'm rambling now, and perhaps this rambling should've gone in the other thread, which I didn't really read.

Well I think it's quite interesting that there's 2 choices for Yes and only 1 for No. Hmmm.

My answer can't be selected from these choices. I don't think Yes, I think No, but if it's to go off-topic for a post or two then back on topic, then I am happy with that.

As an admin, I can add that choice into this poll if I wish but I am not going to do that. But I do want to add one thing, the outcome of this thread will not make any difference to the current status of the JKF Rules & Guidelines.

Maybe we need another No choice that says "No, I like whatever Kiera likes." So the Prez can kiss-up to your super powers. :P ;) :lstory:

oh please. Is that where you are right now? petty insults?
Aren't you the older in all of us Mike? Grow up
Look at Michael- he's so many years younger than you and he acts so much better. Why do you think this is her opinion? Because as an administrator she makes decisions that would be better for a forum as a whole. We are not defining terms- she explains the rules of the forum. Any forum. But you surprise me every day

That's great that we have a poll. But what do you hope to gain that way? Do you think that if people will vote "yes, it makes the board fun and interesting" it'll be okay for the whole forum to go offtrack with complete disregard to the threads? That wasn't your point in the first place, Tracy

blah blah blah...

Once again you've posted an off-topic insulting post aimed at me for no apparent reason. I did not mention you in that post AT ALL, yet you seem to think I'm talking to you. I wasn't even talking about you. I have nothing to say to you at all except what I am saying here. I was talking to Tracy and Justin both of whom I hold in high regard. Kiera, I also respect and admire and I have never spoken an unkind word about her EVER. I think I know Justin enough to know when he's joking. Have you ever read the ASPCJ site? The same site I use in my signature? You have no clue what's happening here do you? Justin posts links to his Kelly Rowland and Jennifer Flavin websites in a thread whose topic is "Keeping on Topic." What part of the joke do you not get?  :dunno:

I have been ignoring your insulting posts over the last week. It's become very clear to everybody here what you are. Leave me alone thank you. :bang: :bang: :bang:

little_bird - Well I think it's quite interesting that there's 2 choices for Yes and only 1 for No. Hmmm.

I did that because I couldn't think of another "No" answer. I'm not trying to be biased, but I don't think that a simple "Yes" or "No" answer is good enough.

My answer can't be selected from these choices. I don't think Yes, I think No, but if it's to go off-topic for a post or two then back on topic, then I am happy with that.

That's what the "as long as it doesn't go too far" is for. Whether you think yes or no, you can still select it if you want to. If it'll make you happy though, I'll let you take out the second "yes". Just the word, since I think we should have an answer where people don't mind off topic posts, but don't want the whole thread to go haywire. The reason why I added the "yes" was because I thought it was basically a "yes" answer.

But I do want to add one thing, the outcome of this thread will not make any difference to the current status of the JKF Rules & Guidelines.

I know that, that wasn't my intention. My intention was just to see how many people do or don't like going off topic. Nothing more, nothing less.

No, again, that is not my intention. I have not even voted yet and if truth be told, I see both sides of the arguement as I always do. All I wanted to see is how many people do or don't like off topic posts. That is all.

*** This is a copy of my post in the other 'On-Topic' thread ***

Wow !!!

We got 2 threads and even a survey covering this now.

OK... I'll try to take this seriously.

No matter how far a thread goes off-topic,
the VERY NEXT POSTER can ALWAYS
start his/her message with:

"Back to the original topic, I feel blah blah blah..."

So... will someone please tell me...
what's the big friggin problem here ???

Easy... Justin ;)

Thanks Michael. You're not so bad for a soon to be four star poster. ;)

You're so right - you've got to move on, before you can move over. Peace.

The going off topic in this thread has now gone too far.

Justin, seeing as you love to piss me off, I merged your thread with the original one that was already being discussed. I then closed it as we are continuing the topic here with the use of a poll.

I am tired of this off-topic discussion. I love the idea of moving on too. Can't we just do that? Come on, for me? (insert bats eyelids smilie here)

(mental note to self - get bats eyelids smilie.)
