Do you guys have a problem with people posting live MP3's of some of here rare stuff or video from her countless perfomances on TV? :dunno:
I can't speak for the admins, but I would think that they might allow it as long as you posted only links and they would not be hosting the actual files. That kind of thing really eats up the bandwidth.
In defense of this kind of thing. Here's my thoughts:
Only Things Taped Off Television should be posted.
Don't Post Anything Off a Commercially Available Product.
Posting Commercials Should Be Encouraged. The advertisers would be very happy.
Taping and sharing of videos that you have taped of the air is legal even in the US. You can't make a profit off them or charge admission to view them. Many people just assume that this is not legal to tape shows off the air. They make DVR recorders like Tivo that can be used to record shows and copy them to DVD's. All of this is legal from what I understand.
Wouldn't it be OK to simply share links to things that you taped off the television?

I would be using yousendit.com (which allows anyone to upload links for free - 25 downloads or for 7 days) and I would NEVER upload anything commercial that would take away money from Jewel.

There is also youshareit.com (http://www.youshareit.com/), which alllows 100 downloads. And I just noticed in the Fiona Apple tracks thread, some links were removed? Admins, mods, explain?

I think Kiera already explained this. I had some live Jewel clips that were removed. I still think there's something blatantly contradictory about it though.

they removed the live links....well...personally i don't consider that a bad thing that should be removed...i mean, if they aren't selling the product, why not make it available to people!!!! it's only fair to those that are in search of it - that's really what i do with my site audio and video wise :)

You didn't have live Jewel clips, you had Fiona Apple links to songs from her new album that wasn't even released yet.
That, I don't allow!

i don't think that was me... I don't even like Fiona Apple. I had the acoustic stuff from 0304. It said the links were removed by the mods.
Okay... so i don't completely hate fiona apple, I really like criminal and that's it. Well i'd love to stay and talk but i gotta go milk my gerbil.

OK, but I'm not quite sure what you mean by "released yet". I'm under the impression that you're under the impression that they will be released soon. However, the album's been shelved for almost two years. And now we can all finally hear the album, but so far, the only way of doing that is through the internet.
But you're an admin and I'm just a lowly member, so do what ya want. ;)

Maybe that's because Sony/Epic kept pushing back the date?
but oh well... if they aren't going to release the cd, i don't think it's bad at all david?
WRONG.
Just because you're one of the few that don't like the songs doesn't mean that the release of the CD should be unimportant to everyone else.

I think he means... as long as Fiona's album isn't going to be released, he doesn't think it's bad to post MP3's so that others can hear it. ;)

yah....it's great u posted the links...and i don't see why they should be removed....i'm a firm believer in the anti-piracy movement, as long as it doesn't harm the consumer in a way of "not being able to get it because it's not released, but yet we're not supposed to download." as this is an example........ u can no longer download jupiter(swallow the moon) remix, or what's simple is true remix, or many other jewel cd's for that matter that aren't the main album - u cannot buy them online either (some that is).... what i'm getting at is...why do u think i think it's ok to post the audio i do on my site? like the remixes and the unreleased audo...b/c it benefits the consumer, or fan ....since they aren't buying anything
why should the fan suffer b/c of this anti-piracy threat - especially when it's not even for sale anymore - that MAKES NO SENSE! i think the recording industry needs to see this otherwise their idea of having a solution to this problem will never come about.....
david - thanks for posting fiona audio (even though i at the time didn't like it, i wish i would've been able to download them all before the link was pulled) b/c now i cannot hear any of it - oh well at least you tried.
no offense to the moderators here.....but that's just ridiculous! it's not for sale...and won't be for a long time as it seems to be....so why should we pull the plug - oh well...i guess we all have to suffer
