View Full Version : If I leave here tomorrow
There's something I've got to know, Lynard Skynard summed the words up for me tonight, and they are beautifully befitting, the most beautiful words I've ever heard. It sums up why I'm posting here, this.
I just need to know.
If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?

You aint hanging up yer daisy roots, putting yer hands in yer sky rockets and sailing off into the sunset are you??? and dont be telling us pork pie's now...i'm sure your having a wooly hat and scarf mate
Unfortunately, yes I am. Thhhat's why I wanted to know if I leave here tomorrow, who would still remember me?
People really don't want me here, so I'll put on my hat, get on my horse and ride off into the sunset.

I have a very bad memory, so I'm not making any promises! :-P
Quoted by Last Dance Rodeo: I don't even know what to say. Is there a category for the person you'd wish would leave the forum?
I don't know, I feel like maybe I've made a mistake coming here, nothihng personal, but after reading posts like this one, I'd just as soon know that I made a mistake and apologize for the inconvenience of my being here. I'm sorry if I caused any trouble.
Maybe I just need to not be here.

not to be to harsh on you but no one here hardly knows you and i dont think anyone really cares if you leave so this thread is pointless. i mean i know no one would care if i left or not, it shouldnt be such a big deal. really man, i'm sorry you get alot of crap but no one is going to appreciate you until they fully know you and thats pretty impossible on a forum.

Remember that, "The world will still revolve even without you." What are you trying to get from here, our attention. Our attention is on our baby, Jewel. sorry..
But why are you leaving, everyone adds colour in this forum. We are all different but we have a commonality, that is, we love Jewel.

Where exactly did Chris say this comment? Even so, From what I see, Chris has made no comments about who he is referring to. I've noticed that you often think that what people say is about you when it is not the case. There are a lot of people on this forum and people make comments about other members. It's not all about you. You really need to stop taking things so personally. I mean that in good will. If you keep thinking comments are all about you, you'll get a severe case of paranoia and read too much into things that just aren't there. That's enough to make anyone go mad.
I also want to say that we don't stop anyone coming or going. If you wish to leave, that is your choice and only yours. Should you choose to stay that is your choice too. If you do wish to leave, I wish you well.

I wasn't talking about you Jones. I didn't know what to say to all those questions is what I was trying to say. And the reason I asked if there was that category was because I thought it would be funny to vote for myself.
To all,
I just wanted to clarify something.
One, "Attention" wasn't my intention. But I appreciate the thought.
Two, Kiera, you're right. It isn't all about me, and I have a horrible habit of a philoshophe by reading into stuff WAY too deeply, and that is something I'm trying to lighten up on. I'm also glad to see you're back, hope you had a pleasant time in Venice, and a very Happy Belated Birthday (I signed the thread for it, but I'm just reiterating.) Also hope you didn't get sunburned, as it's a warmer climate.
Three, to LDR, I assumed your post was in fact about me, since the thread was particularly geared towards me trying to acquit the fact that I'm not a candidate stalker. I officially apologize if I took it out of context, it just seemed befitting to the topic which was at hand.
Four, I really believe, as Awiste put it, there is something TRULY lost in translation, from our minds to the keyboard (including my shoddy misspellings) and to the internet and into other people's computers and into their minds. There is a lack of emotion (except some crafty emoticons) and the whole idea is a lost in translation, as we cannot tell tone, range, depth of voice or thought, and yet we try to figure out what it is that the other individualist is meaning behind the words. It's very difficult to understand and almost 'translate' into what the other poster means. That is why I get the wrong impression with words. As our girl Jewel would say, "Words Get In The Way". I will make a better lighthearted approach to it from now on. Maybe I just needed to expand on the 'lost in translation' idea for a moment, because I'm not sure sometimes exactly what a particular individualist means when they post, and am not aware of nondeclarative or intended meanings. This, I think is common with all people, and I don't subscribe to the fact that I'm the only one who has this problem. It is truly difficult to read emotion from a computer screen, but I like to think that I'm working on it.
I guess the 'slandering' of one's name was, indeed, not slandering, just joking or intended in good humour. I could be right, I could be wrong, but I like to think that maybe now it is in good humour and I just got to be the funny part of it. Nothing is wrong with that, but I do have a difficult time understanding some of the things on here, but I'm working on it. Maybe it's my nature; I never have been known to take a joke well. I don't know.
I would quote my idol and late friend antiquitter Jim Williams, but I think Al Pacino would sum this up in a more comical, suitable manner.
Now that I understand this, and realize the intentions after careful scrutinization of the threads and thorough review I changed my perception of the intention of other's. I'm glad no harm was intended, as has now been stated. I understand now it is in good humour and jokingly. I'm willing to bypass and understand that now, and I'm glad we could sort this hwole thing out. Thank you to all who calrified.

Yup, you all are stuck with me! You should've taken the chance to just say goodbye and leave it alone, instead of making it so difficult for me to leave. "No, sir. I'm here till tomorrow!" looks like my OD's aren't dirty enough yet.

Do you really have to put it in such a devious sounding tone? It's like you're trying to be manipulative.
No, I didn't mean it that way, I meant it jokingly, as in you guys convicned me that it was myself overreacting and it was all in good humour, I just found Pacino's quote to be a comical way to 'break the ice', by saying that I had intended on going and forgetting this, but you all convinced me that there is a void, something 'lost in translation', that I have a difficulty understand. I figured I'd take a shot at humour, and not trying to insult any parties involved.
Truly Kiera, I meant no harm intended. I, once again, had no intentions of sounding manipulative; because if anything is true, it is that I have no control over this forum, as you do, Kiera, and I would never try to 'outplay' or 'thwart off' your decision or judgement. You know I have respect for you and this place, and I guess I failed at humour, nothing more.
In actuality, my last post was a shot at honest humour, and 'laughing it off', saying that I understand you now.
Why does everybody think I'm so evil?

You used the term evil, no-one else so there's no reason to think anyone here thinks you're evil. It's just the way you put things in your attempt at humour.
Ok then, if that was meant as humour, so be it. Another misunderstanding. Fair enough.
Thank you, and again, I apologize. (Watched too many Al Pacino and Jack Nicholson movies growing up in my formative years). Sorry Kiera.

anyhoo, no i would have liked to of gone to the finale but we couldnt get ahold of tickets
Actually, I'll be in splendid glee for those four days, and secondly, it really is terrible you couldn't make the finale. Contrary to your post, I mean that truthfully, you are one of thefew who didn't have to drive far, and I wished that you, (only becuase you're human) could have made it.
Contrary to your 'sorry' post, I really wished you would have mae it.

BTW, are you going to NYC? If so, take a cab to midtown and make sure to visit the Turnbull and Asser store. I have all of my shirts bespoke made from them (actually, the Beverly Hills store handles my affairs). I would reccommend speaking with a chap their named Kevin Hill. He's a good guy and he'll set you up with a few nice shirts for ladies and an array of wonderful cashmere scarves. (Last, check out the "Crockett and Jones" store upstairs. Don't know if they do a ladies line, but maybe your dad could get a pair, check it out, they do nice work.)

That will be fun to go to NYC, we'll miss ya while you're gone! I haven't visited NYC myself since I was little, my aunt used to live there and I always loved the Alice in Wonderland statue, and the carousel.
Be safe! Have fun!
(gee do I sound like a mom??)
It must be some school thing you're doing, right?
Well, if your mind sparks, and you possibly don't hold it agasint Turnbull and Asser becuase I shop with them for my clothing, you might want to have a look if you are not with a group at one time. I'm not trying to force youto go into their, but I think that if you do elect to go inside, you'll be quite satisfied with what you find. They catered all of Winston Chruchill's clothes, and every actor to play James Bond, they did all of Sean Connery's clothes (even to this day, they still have a few bespokes for him), Roger Moore, George Lazenby (who also shops there), Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan(he was wedded in a Turnbull and Asser shirt, and wore Turnbull's as 007, not Brioni, despite the classification and fixation with the Italian iconoclast mogul), and Daniel Craig. THey made me the exact same shirt as a limited edition bespoke that he wore for the newest Bond outting, Casino Royale. They also do shirts for Prince Charles, William, and Harry. They are crowned by the Queen of England as the official shirtmaker and haberdasher. THey have a well built reputation and have much accolade all over the fashion industry. Again, I'm not forcing you to do anything, but I think if you pass their store, you might thank me and yourself later on for stepping inside. This is just a thought, and it is a good investment for your money. If you do look at their displays and sample clothing, you'll be truly impressed with the quality. (Hint: check out the Sea Island Cotton shirts.)
THese are a few men they cater to, if you find yourself there, I urge you to check it out. Just don't speak to Simon, he's a little bit of a pain sometimes.
Oh, and by the way, I can't believe you'd actually take a disapproval on my reputation points because you don't like the thread. Frankly, it's not your place to do that, as I have disagreed with MANY of your posts before outside of this thread, and yet I've never taken a single point from a user on this forum.
Have fun in NY? Don't get mugged.

actually, members can pretty much add or take rep points when they feel moved to, but only a certain amount a day--not sure how much that is, but after I have given points to however many people it tells me I have to wait 24 hours before giving more reps...

Hehe...I didnt even know about Rep points
Not that I'm arguing with you, Andrea, but I was under the assumption that rep points were to be added or taken away only when the situation was very strong. Like you REALLY agreed or disagreed with someone (Like, if I used a four letter word that begins with the letter 'F', in a post). I didn't think it was such a light hearted thing. I only add good rep points to users. As Kiera, CHristie, Crawf, any one of them will tell you.

And like I mentioned in the pm, it is not finished yet. I haven't finalised anything yet and just haven't had the time.
At the moment, it is simple. If you like a post/thread, then you can reward the member with a reputation point a leave a message as to why. Incidentally, it works both ways, you can also remove a point if you are particularly incensed by the post and think the member should have a point removed. Though I doubt we'll have any problems with that. I ask members to be very careful with the whole thing and make sure that you don't take points away unless it is really called for. I am really just trying out the new scheme so if it looks like it is being abused, though I doubt it will, it will be removed.
I see it as a good thing because people will know when others like their posts and get rewarded with points.
Some members have already been using this feature which is why I left it running. Please note that I have no time frame of when I will be finishing the whole scheme as I have a lot of other projects on right now. I hadn't wished to draw attention to it yet but as you've raised the question, I hope this post sheds some more light on it.
Well, i.m.o. if Jessica really disagreed with you that much then it was well within her member -privileges?- to use the rep system. If you really feel that you were mistreated in the use of it then by all means take it up with Dave or Kiera.
I'm not that concerned about it, however I don't lilke having a black mark on my profile, but I simply put her on my Ignore list, and it's gone. Nice solution. I'd rather not sit here and blabber on with some girl who has no justification on arguing with a thread that I started and had a just reason in posting, as a member priviledge on this forum. Nothing more, nothing less; just acknowledging the ability to exercise my rights. (Guess that attitdue of 'exercising rights' I'm used to with my job.)
Hey, I won't let someone spoil my flow, ruin the growth, break my stride, mess my stuff up. NOt happening, just click the Ignore button, and 'POOF!', they're gone, no more problems.
Like I said, "I was gonna go, now I'm not leaving!"

I didn't cuse Gary to leave, If you wouldl read the posts by him, you would see he and I buried the hatchet, we're both in the same state, so Jessica can't pawn that one off on me yet. I was the one to PM Gary and offer truce and no hard feelings. It's not my fualtl he elected to lelave, and if you were at all chronologically minded and could tell time, you'd note that he posted afterr we made a truce. So don't you even think that I did that, and this is not, I repeat, NOT, humour.
Gary did not leave because of me! And anyone who thinks that did not know about our PMs and truce, because they aren't privy to that set information, because (emphasis on the 'P') it was a Private Message, a PM. Read his post on "Editing Posts"!
