What's Jewel's heritage? OK we all know that her dad's side of the family is Swiss but what about her mama's? I know this isn't important I'm just curious.
Maybe it's just me but I think she looks kind of NA when she goes brunette.

I think she looks NA; I wonder if she's part Inuit or something. I don't think she's a natural brunette though, is she? She says she's a blonde.

She's naturally a darkish blonde but lightens it with colour now. If you look at all her childhood photos in Chasing Down the Dawn, she's got dark blonde hair.

What does 'NA' stand for?? Native American?? Sorry, I don't know.
I had thought that Jewel's mother was also of Swiss descent, but I could be wrong.

There is Native American in the family but I don't think it is on Jewel's direct genetic link. She has a cousin, Q'orianka Kilcher and she looks like she has some Native American decent. I don't think they look alike, perhaps some shape face similarities but other than that, chalk and cheese.
Click Here for info on Q'Orianka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q'Orianka_Kilcher)
Particularly this part
[Q'Orianka]is a Mestiza, of mixed European and indigenous Amerindian ancestry. Her father is a Peruvian artist of Quechua / Huachipaeri descent. Her mother, Saskia Kilcher, a human-rights activist of Swiss descent, was born in Alaska and raised in Switzerland.

Yeah I knew about her cousin but the blood they share is the Swiss blood. But I was just wondering if Jewel had a little Native American blood herself, I don't know- something about her cheekbones and eyes, but then, maybe it's all in the makeup.

I know but I just thought I'd add it in ;)
I think her cousin is Eskimo, because the similarities on looks with Eskimos, the relaxed cheekbones, the high forehead, eyes that turn up at the ends (where the crow's feet will start in years ahead). They are all tell-tale signs, not mentioning that her cousin is from Alaska, too. Just a thought.

"Jewel was born in Payson, Utah, to German-speaking immigrants from Switzerland, Atz Kilcher and Lenedra Carroll."

I assume this to mean that both Atz and Lenedra are of Swiss descent. I searched the net for more info on Lenedra's ethnic background but this is pretty much all I can find.

Q'Orianka's father is a Peru native & her mom Swiss-German, no Eskimo at all. Jewel's mom's family is from Utah I believe, and are the typical American mutt, a melting pot of a little of everything. Jewel's looks really seem to come from her dad's side, she look just like her grandma Ruth & a bit like Yule. The whole Kilcher side has those destinctive looks.

I saw that picture of her grandmother back in Switzerland when she was young and she really DOES look like her! I don't think Jewel looks like her dad but she certainly looks like her grandmother!

Well I've just found out that she shares her birthday with Joan Collins and Drew Carey. Which is today...How odd.
