Great new page Justin! Of course if the Pope dies tomorrow God forbid you'll probably get more than the average share of hate mail. Let's just hope and pray that doesn't happen. CNN said they gave him "last rights" today and has a fever after complications from his recent operation. I watched the performance and I concur with your assesment. Hands is awesome, while the duet was not her best. Still it was nice to see Nedra sing.

They've been holding this performance in the vault for some time. I'm thinking they kept it in catacombs under the vatican compound in the same room with other ancient relics. ;)

On a serious note I am sure you and everyone here wishes The Pope a speedy recovery and the best medical care available.

PS you need to do something about these bunnies. There's four in the banner now and they might be pregnant!

great...there are bunnies @ the bottom of that page 2...... what is this world coming to? i was walking to the arch. hall tonight and saw REAL BUNNIES, at least real bunnies are cute - those animation ones are just plain sick...sick i tell ya - with their fake smile and those distortions that resemble a person in a funky bunny suit - not classy! :mooner: :coffee:

I see wild Jackrabbits often here.

lepus californicus

and an occasional cottontail:

Sylvilagus audubonii

Jackrabbits run so fast they are funny to watch. ;)

Justin, I was about to get the search party for you. I was beginning to think you'd ended up in some old caravan having died of a heart attack after untold pleasurable experiences with a gypsy grandmother. Glad to see you're alive and well and of course, extracting the urine at inappropriate times.

I'll give you something though, least you got the Pope bit editted out. I know offending people is part of your day job but there is a point of no return and you may have done that without the edit. Just glad to know that at least theres still some humanity left in you however minute. Don't worry, your secret is safe with me :P

Ok so you've returned to us. Does that mean I have to work now?

Sadly... no such luck, Kiera. :(

least you got the Pope bit editted out

How unlucky was that ???

Folks have been telling religious jokes for yonks.
And yeah, the first time the ASPCJ gives it a go and
tragically the Pope takes seriously sick.

So... there's no grovelling apology here...
it was just a crappy coincidence.
We edited (on our own accord) as soon as we realized
how serious the situation was.

Does that mean I have to work now?
An official ASPCJ pestering letter is currently being drafted. :P

Easy... Justin ;)

Justin can't help it, he was working so furiously at writing comedy that he just didn't have time to watch the news. He's moved on to writing his next project about the comedy of World War II.

Seriously, if any of you get a chance to watch this version of Hands it's a keeper. Simply beautiful.

PS I like the "edited version". It's Nedra that should suffer the wrath of cruelty prevention rather than any widely loved world leaders. I've heard copies of Jewel singing duets with her dad and her brother. Now that I've heard her sing with her mom I can just die happy. Oh, wait I still want to hear Jewel sing with her cousin Q'orianka. Now that would be really something! Maybe she should sing at the Kremlin next, then off to The Forbidden City, The Taj Mahal, and finish off at the White House Lawn. It could be a world circle tour of famous gathering places singing together with her cousins, aunts, uncles, mother, brothers, and other long lost Homerites. It could benefit the Save the Bunnies Charity Foundation!

KILCHERAMA! KILCHERMANIA! KILCHER KOO Koo Koo choooo!

Yeah

Destiny's Child will soon arrive in Sydney and yeah...
maybe Kelly Rowland's mum plays a mean harmonica. B)

And Beyonce's mum... she might shake her booty even
better than her daughter. :omg:

I take it all back... I take back whatever I said about Nedra.
Kilcherians please forgive me.
Entertainer's mums should ALWAYS demonstrate their stuff.

Yeah, it breaks my heart now I think about it. When I saw
Christina Aguilera here in Sydney, I missed out finding out
how good her mum's rendition of 'Beautiful' was. :(

Easy...

btw... I know a great Spanish Inquisition joke... wanna here it. ;)

Hey, it was a coincidence. I E-mailed Justin as soon as I read it. He just didn't know about the Pope's condition. Not everybody reads or watches the news every day. It was a terrible coincidence, but the edited page rightly says nothing about the Pope at all. I think we all know you don't intentionally try to write humorous articles involving a man who is near death. The original page did not really say anything insulting about the Pope at all - it just showed his photo. It's just a matter of bad timing. It was revised within hours of it's original posting. I don't think anybody's going to H*ll over this misunderstanding. That's certainly an over-reaction IMO. I can't speak for the Pope, but saying somebody is going to H*ll over something so small would probably be the last thing any religious leader would ever say.

I for one have nothing bad to say about the Pope. He was a great man who will be missed by millions of people worldwide. I admire and respected Pope John Paul II as a great religious leader.

Best wishes to the Pope to Catholics in this time of sorrow.

Like I said, WhatWouldJewelDo, it was simply a case of crappy timing.
Sure I knew the Pope was sick, he's had alzheimer's disease for a couple
of years. But I didn't know he was critically sick.

I forget how many Pope jokes I've seen on TV... even where actors dress up
as the Pope to satirise him. Did those people really want him dead ???

The Pope line was was only an afterthought... it never was the main subject of
the page. It was removed as soon as I got a text message from my sister telling
me of the Pope's critical condition... she had already edited it out. It was
only on the site for a matter of two or three hours or so.

Had I written that very same line two months ago it would have passed unnoticed.
So, if there are any more self-rightious saints who wanna crucify me, then go
ahead.

The only thing I regret about that line is the timing... I, like everyone else,
am saddened by the pope's death.

And yeah, WhatWouldJewelDo... what are you "gonna go to hell" for ???

Casting the first stone ???

Easy... Justin

jesus christ... it's not like it was a shock or anything. :devil1:

.... Okay, i'll leave it at that. I had to edit out the part that would offend everybody.

You know one good thing to come out of the US, along with Jewel, was the separation of church and state. Why not try it here, separation of church and Jewel. :dunno: I think it would be a good idea.

I know there's a lot of people on this forum that cling to their religion like a shabby blankie they've had since they were 3, able to explain EVERYTHING on it. But pleeeeeeaaaase it's really too much and you just come off sounding pious, so leave it behind when you're posting in this section.

thanx!

Actually, I've seen quite a few posts the last few days that were blatantly offensive toward Terri Schiavo and the Pope. I know that Justin would never intentionally say things like that, but there are some people who would. They just have a really bad sense of humor.

This is all that I'm going to say on the matter, though.

Well, the pope was going to die, he was old and had alzheimers, the same disease that killed my grandmother at 59. He was lucky to have the extra years but you can't postpone the inevitable.

As far as Terri Shiavo goes. I'm happy with the outcome, I dunno if you caught the interview with her sister right after she died. I forget her name, but she said something like, 'the people that were supposed to take care of her, neglected their duty.' I forget the exact verbage. Did she really want her sister to be a vegetable forever. You saw the brainscans, there's no way she could have recouperated from that state. I don't want to appear anti-catholic, i'm pretty much anti-organized-religion. But the whole thing about removing life support is like playing god is total BS. Isn't keeping her alive synthetically playing god too? Let me know what the almighty thinks of that.

I might comment in another thread about Terry Schiavo case, but I won't here. It's been a hot topic this month, but it's kind of over and I'm not sure if I want to talk about it at all. I have a definite opinion, but this country is definitely divided on this issue. Not necessarily down party lines either.

you shouldn't be hesitant about saying what you think. Our opinions are what make us all different. If anybody tells you that your wrong without backing it up, then f  ck them.

Like I said. I might say something in another thread if there were one, but not in this one. Trouble is, I've already talked and watched so much coverage of this case I just feel done with it for a while. It won't be me that starts a thread abou this case. If someone did you'd find that we all disagree.

If anyone does not want to go there it's never to late to change your direction. The first step is to not want to go there. I would never say anybody is going to H*ll, because it's not my job to judge them. And I'm glad it's not, because there are a lot of real jerks in the world. ;)

I gotta agree with kjm030584 about not being hesitant to say what you think.

Who was it who said: "Evil prevails when the good do nothing"

Terri Schiavo should have been allowed to live for as long as
it was humanly possible to keep her alive. What right has anybody
to state if another should live or die ???

This could be the thin end of the wedge... it'll get easier and easier to kill
off the helpless the more it's practiced.

And... taken to it's extreem... how long will it be before we "mercifully"
kill off the mentally ill so we can harvest their body parts ???

Very aptly put in the circumstances if you know what I mean.

You don't have to be religious to pay respect to a man who lived such a life as Pope John Paul II did. It was you who brought religion into this so if you don't want to see that subject raised it is probably best not to bring it up yourself.

At the end of the day, this is a perfectly acceptable subject to discuss here if anyone wants to. So long as we can be adult and have a mature conversation without prejudice and getting into a flame war.

Anyone who doesn't want to take part in such subjects, should just ignore them.

Sorry, I was under the impression that this was the 'Anything Jewel' forum. I didn't complain about the one in the 'Abyss.'

I was on a bunch of cold medicines and I usually get angry when I'm sick, I'll just down my zoloft and keep my problems with religion to myself ;)
