I love the song "Do you want to play" from the "This way" album. The first time I heard it I thought "Wow ! This one can make a hit!". Then I learned that it was never released as a single , which really surprised me. To me it had all the qualities of a good single : short , easy to remember , pop-rock style that was very popular at the time...
What do you think about this song ? Do you like it ?

Ohio!!! I love this song. My fav part is "are you only half alive or have you always been this inarticulate?"
and also "don't think too hard, don't think too fast, don't ever give away what you can't take back...."

Did you know this line was borrowed from Anais Nin (if I'm not mistaken)?
Anyway, many people thought it should have been This Way's 2nd single. I agree, even though I also think Til We Run Out Of Road would have made a great 2nd single with coutry crossover potential. Well, probably any other song would have done better than Break Me...

Personally, I don't like it that much and often skip past it. I do like the lyrics when read as a poem but the music of it is kind of annoying. But I know a lot of Jewel fans love this song and that's fine. We all have our opinions

You'rer right Little Bird ... I underlined its commercial qualities but I know that some fans may prefer her ballads for exemple. Am I right if I say that it's the same fans that like songs like "Do you want to play" that may like "Intuition" ? For me they have the same spirit ...

I like the song, yet I don't completely understand the whole meaning of it. It's got quite a catchy melody, I especially like the bridge portion of that song. Can someone interpret this song for me, maybe I'll understand it more. And maybe I'll listen to it more....I do tend to skip over it sometimes to get to Til We Run Out Of Road (one of my favs!).

Are you talking about DYWTP or Break me, Kiera?

a lot of the songs on this way confuse me a little, especially Jesus Loves You, I sometimes think I get it but then I get confused again. But she always has this way of switching from seriousness to sarcasm.
Maybe we should start a thread for understanding the lyrics. I remember my thread for Barcelona when i was having trouble with some of it... and after hearing everyone's interpretation it was much clearer to understand. If only we could get a grasp on what LAST DANCE RODEO means

I went ahead and started a thread, "Interpreting Jewel's Lyrics".

I was talking about Do You Want To Play. Maybe I should have made that a bit clearer, sorry.

I'm mad, I almost had a acoustic version of Break Me one time but it wouldn't let me get all of it, only the first half or so.... :(
