I did something similar when I was 11 and opened the letter when I was 18. It was amazing how my life changed in just those 7 years. I can totally see why Jewel did this.

She was an amazing 15 year when you think of what she was thinking and interested in.

Wow thanks for posting that, I can't believe she continues to shock me with her personality. I love how she words things and the way she thinks about life, I find it to be very healthy and realistic. I particularly love this line in the letter:
"Learn to enjoy the struggle and messiness of life and not avoid it. Because it's always messy, and if you don't enjoy it, it's like condemning yourself to dissatisfaction for much of your life."

ok and this quote as well:
"There is no grown-up law that dictates a compromise in soul-damaging ways."

Oh is that what the letter is?
Jewel's 15 yr old self writing a letter to her adult self?
I though it was Jewel today writing to herself but 15 years ago.

No you're right it is her present self writing to herself at 15. But I was just saying that I did the same thing. However, I actually wrote a letter to my future self. Jewel wrote to her past.

I don't think I made that very clear. Sorry! :)
