If you check out the current OK magazine that has Jennifer Aniston on the front (headline: "Jen's Fresh Start", Issue #51, Dec.25), there is a 2 page article on Jewel, complete with pictures of her performing in NYC's Herald Square, with Santa, and decorating a Christmas tree with an ornament she made herself. I don't have a scanner right now, otherwise I'd put the whole thing up for you too see!

Jewel's Yule

Jewel kicked off the holiday season with a lunchtime concert performance sponsored by MasterCard's 'A Home For The Holidays' sweepstakes on Nov.30 in NYC's Herald Square. The blonde beauty sang "Hands", "Silent Night", and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing" before hangong an ornament she decorated on the Christmas tree [note: it's a red ball ornament that she drew a picture of herself onto...think some of the self-portraits in the Chasing Down The Dawn book]. The 3 time Grammy nominee shared her holiday cheer and dished about her boyfriend of seven years, rodeo star Ty Murray.

Jewel, 32, lives on a ranch in Texas, but for the holidays she'll be joined by her family, who will have flown in from Alaska, to go on a Texas safari trip. "We get a ranch in a wildlife reserve, and they have cheetahs, rhinoceroses and giraffes," explains Jewel. "We'll have everybody's family there; it should be really fun." Decorating the tree will be a major part of the celebration, she says: "We'll put up little boots, little ropes, and bows. It's a Western tree."

The singer loves the spirit of Christmas. "As a kid you really believed in magic, and as an adult you try to retain as much as you can," she tells OK!. "I think we all try to capture a bit of the magic still. You get into the spirit with the music. I really get into making gifts for my family and my boyfriend."

Although making gifts for one another is romantic, Jewel explains it's not the most romantic thing that she and Ty do at this time of year. "Ty and I write love letters to each other every Christmas, which is probably my favorite gift. Ty makes me photo albums out of leather. He'll sew it and put the pictures in it."

For Jewel, giving beats receiving. "A sign of growing up is you really enjoy giving gifts. I get more excited to see the looks on their faces as much as anything......I don't know! I don't know what they're going to get me. I'm kind of stumped, actually. I don't know what to get myself."

Of all the holiday food to look forward to, Jewel enjoys the desserts most of all. "I like to make a toffee punpkin pie or cherry cobler," she smiles. "I'm a dessert fan." Her hopes for 2007 are simple. "All this cornball stuff: continued health and happiness." As for resolutions, she's a little more cagey. "I have a little while yet to be bad, so I'll get close to my New Year's resolutions around Dec.31!"

Quotes also within the 2 page spread:

"My favorite holiday song, I've always loved "Ave Maria."

"I think we all try to capture a bit of the magic."

Wow, that's cool. Great find.

I'll check the OK Magazine here but I bet it won't be in it coz it's a UK version that is customised with UK stories. But I'll check anyway.

I love custom-made Christmas presents that aren't bought in stores. And yes I think it's a great sign of growing up when you are more excited about giving people presents :) I am at the point in my life where I really don't care if I get anything for Christmas, I just want happiness. But I admit I love my Jewel books and dvd I got this year, way better than any Wii or PS3
