I am not sure she even hit gold. I know I have these figures somewhere so I'll find them and get back to you.
Unless someone else beats me to it.

I believe she still hasn't crossed the 300k mark. To go Gold, she'll have to do 500k SOLD.

I've read it.
She has sold nearly 255.000 units !!!!!
She left the Billboard 200 quickly.
I think lack of promo...!
Keep supporting her !!!!!
BUT ITS MY FAVORITE ALBUM anyway. Its better than POY :( (in my opinion)
I can't stop listening !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She needs a video clip for ONLY ONE TOO...!!!
it could run better :)

Yes, GAIW is absolutely awesome. It's WAY BETTER than anything else out there right now if you ask me!!! Jewel really poured her heart out on this one.

I can't understand why it has sold so little. It just seems so wrong that Paris Hilton is up there pumping out total crap and selling bucket loads and Jewel is putting her heart and soul into this and being metaphorically smacked in the face!
What is wrong? Have people lost their sense of taste? Or worse...their hearing?
And clearly Jewel lost a lot of dedicated fans as a result of 0304 coz they just simply haven't bought the album.
Tragic :(

I really think that is a big part of it... THE 0304 FACTOR... but Kiera unfortunately people have lost taste in good music as a result of.... wait, as a result of what??? What caused crappy music to take over the world like it has?? Time to quote Don McLean
A long, long time ago
how that music used to make me smile
and I knew if I had my chance,
that I could make those people dance,
and maybe they'd be happy for a while
but February made me shiver
wth every paper I'd deliver...
bad news on the door step
I couldn't take one more step
I can't remember if I cried
when I read about his widowed bride
but something touched me deep inside...
THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED.
so bye bye miss American pie
drove my chevy to the levvy but the levvy was dry
and good ol' boys were drinking whiskey and rye
and singing this'll be the day that I die
this'll be the day that I die....
...need I say more?

I really don't think Jewel has given up on this album yet. I think it will at least hit Gold. It has at least sold so it isnt a total failure. I remember hearing one of the spice girls solo album only sold like 635 copies in its first week then just floppped all together. So at least she isnt in that boat.
I really think the 7th heaven apperance may booost a little album sales and maybe get some airplay. People on the 7th heaven forum were saying they hadn't heard the song and they really liked it so that is a plus.
Jewel doesnt wanna seem to give up on good day and I don't think we should either. Who knows what will happen with this album especially if "Only one too" gets released as a single that might pick some sales up and espeically airplay

That isn't true, she'd have to have 500k SHIPPED.
But she wont get there either way.

Nope, to go gold you have to SELL 500k. To go platinum, you have to SHIP 1000k. Just read Billboard rules at their website.

Poor Jewel. It's not even Gold. It's just wrong. It should at the very least be platinum. It is an awesome record.

LOL i researched that !. MELANIE B sold 635 copies from her second solo album. Her cd had a little promo and she thought that fans would buy it anyway.
But it sold 635 copies and the 2nd week fell down to place Nš1000 !!!!!!!!!!!
and X_X caput! Melanie B was fired
that was tragic :acoustic:
Our Jewel at least has sold 255000 copies... !:coffee22:

how do digital downloads fit into all that? Like when people go to iTunes and only buy good day for 99cent or something.... how does that work??
Little Bird
10-03-2006, 02:12 PM
That's a good question. I assume they aren't counting them towards. Over there in the US, you rate Number 1's very differently to the UK and Ireland.
Here and in the UK, it is purely down to sales, not radio plays. The UK have counted online downloads longer than Ireland but it is only if you buy albums/singles from certain sites (including iTunes) that your purchase is counted towards the charts. Buying outside of the recognised sites doesn't help the artist at all.
I assume downloads are recognised in a similar way in the US but I'm not sure. It's just an assumption
