Ok, I know, I should get my head out of the sand but I only saw 50 First Dates (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0343660/) for the first time at the weekend.
I thought this movie was strangely tragic. It actually upset me even between the laughs, I just really felt sorry for Lucy and also for her family. But Adam Sandlers character was wonderful.
But for a comedy movie, I just thought it was quite tragic too...behind the comedy so to speak.
Anyone have any thoughts on this movie?

I'm trying to remember it. I know the basic plot. It is quite tragic. I'm sure it's possible that something like that can happen in real life. I hope it certainly doesn't though.

I haven't seen it yet but I saw it in a clearance bin at hel-mart for $1.88 vhs, is it worth paying $1.88 for? I did buy BIG FISH this morning out of that same bin b/c I was told it was excellent and plus it was the last copy in the bin so that intrieged me...

Not sure it's worth buying at all. It's fine watching it on TV like I did but I just won't watch it again. Don't get me wrong, it was very funny but it was the sad story behind it that made my heart bleed and it was just too tragic knowing the reality behind this. There are people in the world who are like Lucy who have lost her short term memory and it's just very sad that they have to live their lives in a way we take for granted.
